We had an interesting real-life experience over the Xmas period which I had written down, but I'm not sure where to post it. As far as I can see the "Stories" on the site are all Fiction pieces, and there is no specific area for Non-Fiction/real Life experiences. It's about 9 pages long so I doubt it would be allowed in the Forums so where do I post it? Is there a need for a Non-Fiction story category?

Good question! Have the same issue and working on a story, Reality to fantasy.

There's a rule against "true" stories, or at least stories which are presented/labeled as true/real-life.

Thanks Britva415. I guess I'll join another site that's more amenable to Real Life stories. They're missing out on a whole genre of literature.

Thanks again, my friend.

Why not post it without getting hung up about being true
Are you more fixated on publishing or telling everyone what you did?

I'm not "hung up" or "fixated" on anything, thank you MadelineSinha!! I simply asked a question because clearly, unlike some on here, I don't lie. I certainly don't seek "adulation" ....

And I’m not a drama queen, so here we both are

https://www.literotica.com/resources/content-guidelines the 13th bullet.

But, there are "real life" and "true story" tags, so there is that.

Anyway it doesn't seem like a full-blown category is likely to be provided, based on the policy I linked.

The rule says "Works professed to be true about real people in the title, tags, and/or description."

You can post stories that claim to be about true events, but you can't go and say "this happened to John Doe, who lives next door to me". That would basically be slander, or defamation.

Just leave the statement out of the title, tags, and decription, and be sure to not include ANY information that would allow anyone to possibly identify who you're writing about?

Thank you for your input Sarkasmus, but after a certain individuals comments (which have since been deleted by Moderators) I will never be posting anything on the site again. A shame, but I will find a site with a more appreciative, and respectful, audience.

I read a book by Jimmy Buffett of all people about 30 some years ago. He started the intro page with a quote like “this book contains factual fictions, and fictional facts”.

I’ve always approached my writing with this in mind.

A very famous author that I used to correspond with, once told me - "If you want to expose the truth about a Company, Government, or other entity - write it as fiction!!
