The Republican House of Representatives has begun the process to pass a spending bill and avoid a government shutdown. It might be a difficult task because they’ve needed Democratic Party support to pass the last few budgets.

Quarreling Republicans Float Plan to Cut Taxes, Raise Debt Limit

House Republican leaders took the first step Wednesday toward enacting trillions of dollars in tax cuts and raising the nation’s $36 trillion debt limit, offering a plan that risks rankling quarreling factions in the party.

The plan allows the House tax committee to cut taxes by $4.5 trillion over ten years — though it could approve more breaks if it finds other savings from welfare or other programs. That $4.5 trillion threshold gives Republicans only enough runway to do a straight extension of Trump’s expiring 2017 tax cuts. To make any other tax code changes — including eliminating taxes on tips or fulfilling any of Trump’s other campaign pledges — they’d need to find spending cuts or tax increases to offset the cost.

The plan requires at least $1.5 trillion in spending cuts over a decade in programs such as Medicaid, Obamacare subsidies and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program commonly referred to as food stamps.

Cutting Obamacare might be the thing that kicks up a shitstorm.

The budget plan includes $800 billion in increased military and immigration enforcement spending. Someone needs to tell them that’s no way to balance a budget! 😆

Anyway, this is likely to be an “interesting” process based on the past performance of the House of Clowns.

An article from The Hill contains more details …

On the spending cuts front, the measure lays out minimums for other panels: $230 billion for the Agriculture Committee, $330 billion for the Education and Workforce Committee, $880 billion for the Energy and Commerce Committee, $1 billion for the Financial Services Committee, $1 billion for the Natural Resources Committee, $50 billion for the Oversight and Government Reform Committee and $10 billion for the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. That totals a $1.5 trillion floor.

The House has been adamant that the best way to pass Trump’s agenda is with one sprawling bill, while Senate Republicans are in favor of splitting the priorities into two measures, the first dealing with border and defense and the second addressing tax cuts.

It looks like the House and Senate are going to be fighting this out.

Despite what we're told the Right also runs the military. The Right stands on principle when it shuts down the government. They are against the rampant spending of the radical left. If the dems pull that card I 100% guarantee we will hear nothing but how its time for all Americans to come together and heal how incredibly irresponsible it is to risk our credit rating, Dems lost the election and the popular vote its time to listen to the people and reconcile otherwise we risk the union built upon compromise blah blah blah blah!

Don't get me wrong, I wish i was wrong. I really do but I don't see that happening.

Every President besides Clinton ran up huge deficits. So how is the debt a "radical left" problem?

Hey Yo, Minor ReWHITE

I axed you a question

And

No response

(of course)

What and who are leading economists??

I don’t believe that is what Sean was trying to say…

Quite the opposite in fact…

But the way Sean worded it is about as clear as mud, so…

😑

It was you that said leading economists

Yet you have no idea what it means who they are who decides

Attacking me shows your empty point

Crazy imbecile thinks it has a point, and can’t follow the subject of this thread. 😆 It is a triggered mental gimp.

Mental gimp, go to your Xitter feed and try to find something to say about the budget. 👍

You said leading economists and didn't expect to be challenged

Of course

Let’s recap:
  1. Noitall/moOHmo commented that the Fed should cut rates to reduce inflation
  2. I pointed out that rates are elevated now precisely to constrain inflation. Reducing rates would fuel inflationary pressure.
  3. Noitall/moOHmo threw a pointless tantrum and demanded to know who leading economists are.
  4. Sane people laughed at Noitall/moOHmo.
  5. Noitall/moOHmo decided to continue its pointless tantrum days later in multiple threads. It is a mental gimp.
😆

this marks you as unserious

The senate continues on its path that Donnie opposes.

The Senate adopted a budget resolution Friday intended to serve as a blueprint to deliver the first part of President Trump’s agenda.

Senators voted 52-48, mostly along party lines, on the resolution after a marathon overnight voting session. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) voted against the measure.

Josh Hawley certified his status as a mindless sheep. 😆

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said ahead of the Thursday night vote that he had previously planned to vote against the measure following Trump’s comments. But he said he switched to a “yes” after speaking directly with Trump, who he noted gave “a nod” toward the Senate plan.

The key lines from that article:

“Senate Republicans say their plan would put key points on the board during Trump’s first 100 days, and point out that “border czar” Tom Homan and other key officials have been clamoring for an infusion of funds for border and defense.”

😳

If only DonOld and the MAGAt republicans hadn’t SABOTAGED the bipartisan defense, immigration reform and border security bill that provided FUNDING for BORDER SECURITY AND DEFENSE, etc…

😑

🤬

JFC

SAD!!!

We. Told. Them. So.

The House of Clowns is trying to accommodate Doddering Donnie’s ever growing list of tax cut promises.

Defections from the ranks (including the “undersea aliens” guy):

Johnson is also already facing two public GOP "no" votes — Reps. Tim Burchett and Victoria Spartz, who say spending cuts need to be deeper.

The House of Clowns is so melodramatic. 😆 It’s a soap opera.

If they were sane, they’d skip the tax cuts and come much closer to actually balancing the budget. But they aren’t sane.

The next announcement will be targeting more social security, Medicare, Medicaid and other programs for the poor. Maybe they should help the poor, feed the hungry, and house and clothed the less fortunate. What would (republican) Jesus do?
