Hey there everyone.

This last year I have been running a small survivor competition open to everyone and 2 other people actually joined in this celebration of a competition I remember fondly.

Im thinking of trying to do a proper Survivor 25 but would people be interested? For me the contest has more been a carot to write rather than a real competition between authors. These were the old rules (here) and for my 25 version they would be changed to more fit what we want to run today. Has anyone be in it? If yes, what was the best part of it? If no, what do you think you would get out of such a competition?

The short version for those who doesnt know at all what Im talking about
Survivor was a competition where you got points for writing stories and the more variety you wrote (genres) the more points you got. there there was some more rules and small event every moths to eliminate categories etc.

So would people be intresrested in joining me?

You'll have to count me out, I'm afraid. I've spent too much of this year writing for events, challenges and contests - so much that I barely wanted to write for my own challenges anymore. Now I just want to write what I want, when I want.

But good luck. I'm sure there are plenty of other writers who are interested.

For me the simple score card is a great tracker for my own writing. That is how I felt back in the day when we ran it. The bingo etc was a thing I rarely participated in.

They were just ending this as I was starting to write here. At the time, I thought it was a great idea especially for a writer starting out and seeking a base of readers. I was sorry I'd missed it; back then, I was brimming with ideas.

Now I've written many of them, lol. I would no longer be interested (as EB implies, it's too much like working), but I definitely applaud the spirit of the thing. Good luck!

I was involved this year but I forgot to update my sheet. If there was interest I'd do it again.

I’m afraid I’m not prolific enough to participate in something like this. During my first year here I would’ve been interested, but now I probably won’t (never say never).

you dont have to be prolific Omenainen. This is less of a competition and more a personal challenge. For me it was about motivating myself and see others doing the same. I write about three stories a year so you dont have to be someone who writes constantly. But it might motivate me to try and write a story not in the Lesbian category since that is my main genre.

I will take a look at the rules and see what can be edited to streamline it a little suring the holidays. In one way or another I will run a survivor 25 and everyone is invited to join.

I was supposed to do this with you this year, but fell off due to my wife's health situation.

I'd be game to try to help support it next year, but I take it this would not be site approved so just us keeping track of our own stories, yes?

If inspiration strikes an I revise the rules and reach out to lauren then it might be a little official but I will run it anyway even if it will be in a more unofficial capacity.
