It's really not. The site does not exist so that you can get your rocks off.

The stories are sex stories, for the most part. But they're written by amateur authors (again, for the most part).

If a story is incredibly hot, but it's stolen, its hotness doesn't give it any more right to be here than if it was Shakespeare. Stolen property can't be posted here.

The same goes for the Am Pics forum.

It doesn't matter how hot the pics are or how many orgasms a thread gives you - if the pics are stolen, they can't be here. It's against Lit's rules and it's illegal. Flickr has the same rules, FYI, though people tend to get by under the radar on that site.

So, repeat after me, kids - this is not a porn board.

All in all, it's a discussion board on an adult site. There's a difference. Amateur, by definition, means not professional and posting something here implies that you own it.

Edited to add: no I don't live here and I don't take the site or myself too seriously. I'm as much of a goof off dork as anyone. I'm sarcastic. However, there are standards.

I am very seldom on this site, I thought it was a porn site, guess not. I kind of agree with all that you have said, just wondering if you own the pictures that make up your avatar?

I knew someone would point that out.

The avatar was from a public avatar site.

i don't often venture outside of ampix.

is this brouhaha an extension of something that's going on elsewhere in the board?

It's mostly about Am Pics. There have been quite a few fakers bust lately, and then guys whining that some mean people have chased them away.

In their opinion, we shouldn't question anyone's authenticity, because this is "just a porn board" and they're just here to jerk off.

Well said Raw.

Thank you for pointing that out. Although I assume it may be ignored by some.

I'm sort of tired of being asked to post pictures of myself. Revealing pictures, I mean. I'm a pretty girl and I don't feel the need to flash my nakedness. :)

Ok, so i will take the other side to which it seems i might be in the miniority.

This is a porn board. one, we can all agree its a board, so to speak, right? However, if one wants to dispute that... ok, i got nothing there

I think that Raw is splitting hairs. Regardless of whether you want to believe those who post pics is real or not, which it does seem that some are obsessed with proving it one way or another, This is a porn site. I dont have a dictionary in front of me, but i do believe that porn is considered sexual images used to stimulate someone.

Now if i am wrong and that isnt the definition, my apologies. But i tend to think that this site is used my many in several different facets. Some DO use it to get off, never caring if they talk to a single person or not, just as long as they have that orgasm. Some use it to post their stories and do take this very seriously. But whether its amateur or professional, that doesnt make it any less stimulating to those who use it to get off.

I wont say you take yourself too seriously, Raw, but i havent really seen in your arguement what makes it not a porn site

porn

noun
creative activity (writing or pictures or films etc.) of no literary or artistic value other than to stimulate sexual desire [syn: pornography]
WordNet® 3.0, © 2006 by Princeton University.

Thought I'd help out. I see the material having other value other than to get off on. Which wouldn't make it porn.

Thank you

however, its all in one's perspective. Because like i said, some use it for nothing other than to get off with. Which does make it porn for some, not porn for others. I believe this is just a case of how you use lit

I agree. It's all in how one perceives it.

I just believe there's a lot more to the site than that and it would be beneficial to others if they saw the site for what it truly is.

You just might. We do have a Personals section, including a BDSM Personals forum.

We have a GLBT Forum, complete with a subforum on current events as it relates to that community.

We have a General Board, which ranges from people on both sides of the political spectrum lambasting each other to discussion on religion to pubic hair removal and after-care to how Jenna Jameson fucked up her face with too much botox.

We have a How To forum where people go to gain advice on relationships, computer issues, or stuffing a turkey.

And we have Am Pics, where people can share pictures of themselves.

Then of course, outside of the forum, there's the stories and poetry site. That's largely porn. The rest is mostly people having conversations with each other.

I completely appreciate where you are coming from and over the last few weeks have questioned what the hell I am doing here. I do take care with my thread, trying to reveal pieces of myself that may be of interest, engaging with others, bantering, sharing my pictures, which I don't consider porn. I suppose it depends on your definition. I'm trying to see them as art, a side of myself I didn't think that I had and maybe something to build on in the future. I'm sure that you'll get flamed tons, and maybe I will to. But just wanted to say that I get it...

In response to this, I actually looked at some of your pictures and that's exactly what I viewed them as... art. There are a few others I have seen that to me are truly art, they are pictures I would hang on my wall as they represent true beauty.

I'm not really talking about erotica vs porn or tasteful vs not. What I'm somewhat saying is that there's more to the Lit forums than just Am Pics, and there's more to Am Pics than just some quick jerk material for the guys.

My problem is I love the idea of men jerking off to me, but then I've always been "different" ;)

I just wanted to say thank you for helping to nuke that fake pic thread... I thought it was rather bogus that some guys were "creating" their own evidence, like anyone would believe that.

Keep it Real

Pops

Oops, my bad. I've been calling it a porn board. Just because it's got Am pics instead of pros doesn't mean it's not porn?

I have been to your thread a few times (maybe a few more than that) and I would agree that you depict yourself as a true artiste. You are courageous, witty, and intelligent - not to mention thoughtful and genuine with those that frequent your little (ever expanding) corner. Rest assured that there are many who appreciate all that you show as Ari and not just your exquisite form.

One of the unique aspects about Lit is the sense of community where one can meet and interact with other like minded - enlightened, if you will - people. I, for one, am glad as hell that you are here. You are Ari, an artist, a banterer, an inspiration, and a friend.

That being said, I agree that Lit should exist as a place for NON professionals to explore and contribute with the safety that their property (physical or intellectual) will remain theirs. Also, I believe it should exist as a place of mutual respect for all those that do have the courage and desire to post stories and/or pictures or anything else, for that matter.

Raw, I'm glad this subject has been broached... hopefully it makes a difference!

A lot of women love it. Most guys would love having women get off to them as well. Hell, that's a big reason we write the stories.

No - there's porn here. It's just that this place isn't just about the porn, or just about the quick nut-busting.

Perhaps it's partially a pet peeve of mine since I largely hang out in the GB, and that section is FAR from being a 'porn board'. I kinda just wanted people to realize that there's more to this place than just the ceaseless killing of innocent tissues.

:D
