So.. I'm a little bit of a pyromaniac and I love beautiful colors and art and one of the things I have always wanted to do is play with wax.
Tolyk has rather enthusiastically agreed to indulge my curious little mind and body and we have plans for our upcoming visit.
Oh do we have plans...
But I digress.
Hot stuff.
Candles, wax, melty, drippy stuff that makes beautiful messes.
Pictures, discussion, safety tips, fantasies.
All of it. Let's talk about all of it.

I wholly endorse this thread. And all the sexy fun times to come.

i know some people who make wax that is reactive. it reacts to black lights or similar lights. if your interested PM me and ill try to get you a link. its in the States and i don't know how much they keep in stock and am not familiar with shipping or how long it takes them to send. I have only bought before at a Conference they were at.

We already bought some, regular and UV reactive. In a variety of colours ;) We got them from a shop in Denver. I'll be doing photography of both as we play with them. :)

I don't often respond to photos that way, but I saw Tink's picture and instantly smelled a whiff of hot wax and candle-smoke.

I love wax. Never used in a sexual fashion but probably would like it. I used to make candles. Fun stuff!

One of the problems with a new lover (at least for me) is, unless something is given as strictly hard limit, I tend to go for what I know. Which will involve some re-emergence of patterns of behavior with a past lover once I fall into the zone.

In the event, once she was bound blindfolded and we were heavily involved in sensation play, I'd already run the gamut of Wartenberg wheel, floggers, crops, whip, cane, clamps, pins, feather, rose, velvet and leather glove, and wasn't even really thinking when I reached for the bowl of ice and one of the candles that had already been prepared in a circle around her.

Later, in the aftercare and debriefing, while we were cuddling and going through an itemized exploration of her likes and dislikes, when we got to wax play, she said, "I don't like wax play. Or, rather, I didn't think I did. My husband and I tried it once. And it was... I don't know. Too hot or something. It wasn't sexy. I just wanted him to stop. But, when you did it..."

(She had to pause for a minute as she had another aftershock.)

"And, after, when you removed the blindfold and I saw the work of art you'd turned me into... Oh, fuck!"

(That was a bit of a sharp one, causing her hips to buck against mine, and it took us a minute to calm her so she could continue.)

"And then... and then... when you were peeling it off... Damn it!"

At that point, I gave up and fucked her through a few more hard orgasms to settle her. And, when we continued (after she woke from passing out again), I didn't delve any further into her feeling about the wax play, but just marked it as an "oh, fuck yes, let's do that shit again!"

(For those wondering, the flash paper wasn't terrible [at least not blindfolded so she could feel it, but not see the dots of flame sparking on her skin], although not as big a hit as the wax. The ice play, other than mixed with the wax, was a new limit.)

Frankly, (as with most things) until I stumbled in here and started thinking about and trying to articulate it, I generally didn't. Think about it, that is. I just did it.

I mean, I'm sure way, way back in the time before time when I first tried it, I was all kinds of about the mathematics and physics, chemistry, and biology. But, that was decades ago and a lifetime of practice had driven it subliminal, until I saw this thread and started pondering.

The thing is... and this is just my (not so humble) opinion gazing back across the sandscape in the hourglass... but, I don't think it can be delineated as "use this wax, drop from this height and at this angle" and so forth.

Different waxes will hold different heat. But, different skin canvases will react differently to those different heats, just as some that are into spanking like a little more "thud" while others like a little more "sting."

Employing "drop play," where the wax is allowed to fall directly from a candle suspended over them, the height it falls through the air, and even the very temperature of the air in the room, not to mention whether it is done at sea level or three thousand feet, will make some difference in the heat it retains during the fall (depending on the chemical make-up of the wax).

Brushes (or feathers) can be fun and add some texturing to the artistry as well as providing a variety of sensation to add to the experience, but I tend to start with hand transfer, personally. I typically figure that if I can stand to put my hands directly in the crockpot of wax, then the most it would be for them is uncomfortable, rather than causing harm.

For myself, I categorically refuse to initiate wax play if there is any clothing (lingerie, for example) still on my delightful skin canvas, typically cutting or ripping it away. Certain clothes can melt into the skin causing harm and damage. I, personally, couldn't ever be bothered to figure out which is what since I prefer her nude, open, completely exposed, and completely vulnerable anyway.

(It should go without saying, but then again they had to put the warning on hair dryers not to take them into showers for somebody, so fake nails and hair [natural or extensions] are not a good idea to get open flames or heat exchangers near.) (If you want to be wrapped in kerosene doused cotton and then bathed in flame, I'm not your Huckleberry.)

And... I don't know. I guess I would classify this as moderately advanced art (on a spectrum from spanking to bladework and electroplay). I seem to recall (a long, long time ago in a galaxy **cough**) that when I started, I practiced on arms and legs, the skin that was exposed to the sun and thus a bit "tougher" for quite a while before I graduated to incorporating nipples and clitoris (clitori?). And even there, I would... Oh, check the temp of the wax on myself in the bend of my elbow. And surreptitiously check temperature variance of their feet as a thumbnail sketch of possible nerve conduction issues and problems.

Don't get me wrong! I'm not saying "don't try it!" If you think you might be into it (and your partner is also, of course)... Hell, I've had some fun with it over the decades, as have an assortment of playmates variously.

And, it's probably time, and past time, for me to shut the Puck... er, that is, for me to stop filling your screens with a bunch of crap most will eyeball, see a wall of text, and skip past anyway. Hopefully someone else will come along and clean up any wax spillage I might have dripped on the floor.

ooooh wax.

I like it drizzled on my who haa....like chocolate sauce.
But i have heard to avoid the citronella candles. They burn nastylike and although i am a huge pain slut *curtsy* ain't no one gonna peel my skin off today. Thank you.
I look forward to seeing the depth at which you plan on investigating this delightful proclivity, Tink.....;)

We are really looking forward to it. I have a box of candles, because I couldn't decide on colors so I bought them all. ;)
UV and regular and Tol is in charge of the blacklight, making sure we don't set off the smoke detectors and the camera.

This picture hits me that way too.
It's a lovely photo.

I suspect I'm going to like it a lot. I could be completely wrong... but I dont' think so.

Wax play is fun play.
It sure seems to be! And it's so pretty

I read everything you wrote.. I thought this was especially important and valuable. Safety is key, literally playing with fire here.
And I can imagine that everyone reacts differently. I've done a lot of reading, I'm such a nerd about things, and I know that we wanted unscented candles, no metallics, made with high quality ingredients that have a lower melt point.
We opted for the not super low melt point of soy but a coconut/paraffin mix that melts just under 120 degrees.
In every color she makes.

Directly on your who haa huh Amy? Yikes. I think I'll be working up to the chocolate sauce method. *grins*
No citronella.. first of all they give me a headache, second, lots of irritating additives to that, yeah, burns way too hot.
Beeswax should also be completely avoided from what I have researched, burns too hot.

I don't love pain, but I like... sensation. I feel like this will have the right amount of sting. We'll see.
For now I keep opening the box to look at the pretty colors.

I love the look of wax play, but she's not into it. That's okay, we dont need another kink.

But...

Do not underestimate the experience of making slow, deliberate achingly passionate love under the light of two dozen assorted candles. Power failure on a winter night in a snow squall. We're both very visual, so we wanted light. The quality if the light us astounding.

Do take your time...

I haven't done much of it but recall it being super messy. We bought a bunch of cheap shower curtains at the dollar store so we didn't ruin anything under us.

Also - taking the wax OFF was part of the excitement. He had this giant knife. He did weird things to my nipples, I thought he was cutting in to me. None of that was true but it heightened the experience as he "cut" off the wax. I have no idea how he did it, but it was pretty fantastic.

The peel is almost as fun if not more so as the application.... especially for the recipient of the wax....

Does it hurt? Or leave a mark? Not judging.. just asking.

The whole thing was erotic.

From the heat of the drip, the cooling off as it tightens up. Especially on place like nipples, inner thighs, pussy, in between toes! But then he kept going and the wax just built up. I wish we'd taken pics - it was surreal looking. It started to feel --- heavy?? Then as he cut it off, slid the knife between the wax and my skin. Crazy sensation.
