It's Friday night and I'm sitting at home a little bored. I've got a ton of stuff I could be doing but I'd rather chat with people if anyone is up for that. What are y'all up to?

Today was a long day for me and I’m actually just chilling and watching Armageddon right now, surrounded by sleeping dogs and a sleeping boyfriend (he always falls asleep during movies, lol).

It is past Friday evening here, a winter afternoon, a bit overcast and cool, but no rain. A busy work week and I managed to relax last night with a catch-up with a mate for two drinks and then home for homemade burgers.

Today has been tidy-up time and now a catch-up on Lit.

It's always nice to relax after a long day. Hopefully tomorrow won't be as long. If only my dogs would get sleepy right now. They've been tormenting the cat and pestering me for treats.

I'm so ready for it to get cool here. I love summer vegetables but not the heat. Drinks with a friend followed by a burger at home sounds wonderful. I may need to pick up stuff to cook burgers tomorrow.

It's Saturday morning, 6:30. But I have a train to catch! I'm going to spend the weekend checking out museums and restaurants in a fun city. :)

Work was weird this week and I had such a hard time letting go of one project yesterday, it's still twirling in my head. I think a change of scenery is good for me, it'll help me relax.

Also, I haven't left home since February except to go to work. So this is very exciting!

Now that sounds like a pleasant Saturday seela. Summer crowds, warm summer weather, relaxing.

That sounds like so much fun! I love going to museums but it's been so long. There's a new exhibit at one in the closest city that I want to go see soon. Work is just stressful everywhere lately.

The weather is not amazing, but I'm not going to let that bother me. I'll stay in a cool hotel too, kind of art deco.

It'll be all fun and games this weekend!

What do you put in your burgers, btw?

What kind of museums do you like?

I most often go to art museums but I don't think I have time to squeeze in an art museum on this short trip. I have plans to check out a few interesting looking history museums and a game museum, where you get to play old arcade, console and computer games. :)

Work really has been stressful. Next week should be pretty quiet, but after that it's full steam ahead until Christmas. There hasn't been much of a summer lull for me this year. Luckily I have 2.5 weeks of vacation starting pretty soon!

What am I up to?

Not a whole lot. Just pasted a post from here to another website and then put out a follow-up "good god does this guy never shut up" post here. Was just about to give my gnarled fingers a break from the keyboard. Maybe play some Cute Knight Kingdoms to try for one of the five (out of forty) endings I'm missing. Maybe see if there is something worth watching on Netflix. Maybe reading a bit on Naomi Novik's "Black Powder War" if I can get my eyes to cooperate.

It feels so odd to me that y'all mention some museums are open. A few weeks ago, we were going to try to hit up the Ranching Heritage Center or Science Spectrum but both were shut back down after the resurgence.

Trains. Good memories. I miss them.
Its 0140, and I'm awake for a bit...I'll read some Elmore Leonard and drift back off.

Museums and trains. I miss my city.
I hope you have fun, seela.
I sure am having fun! This is my hotel, it's so cute!

I've walked over 15,000 steps today so far. Climbed on top of a hill and into a tower and had a donut there, went to a spy museum and Lenin museum which were both fun and weird, now at the hotel for a little while and then a photo exhibition and dinner.

I feel like I'm trying to make up for all the months when I didn't do anything with this one weekend now. If (when) the restrictions are reintroduced, at least I'll have had this fun weekend!

Getting out and exploring sounds great, seela.

I spent last night with friends from high school. First time at a restaurant in months! A guy we graduated HS with was playing in a band so we thoughts we'd check it out.

Great music! And so good to actually get out, connect with friends I've only texted with the last couple months.

I think it will be a long time before I'm comfortable in a restaurant again.

I just finished a bowl of leftovers and am headed back into the kitchen to finish cleaning out cupboards.

WTF am I doing with all these lids that don't fit a single bowl in the house?

I also need to slim down my accumulation of skillets but I use every one of the 14 that I have.

Seela, I don't think Radissons look like that in the US. I would want explore that hotel, too!

I pulled out a dead rose of sharon shrub and transplanted a lilac tree to another area of my property. After sweating like crazy doing that, I jumped in the pool for a swim. Sitting inside now in the AC perving around and figuring out what to do for dinner.

I love all types of museums but adore art and science museums. I want to be able to go places but I'm nervous about it. I have visited some friends which I know is risky, maybe even riskier than going off by myself to visit a place. I'm so all over the place with all this. I'm really glad that there are places that are able to open up safely. I wonder if the museum somewhat bread me will close again because of increasing cases.

Trains are such a great way to get around. I wish they were utilized more here but probably not enough people use them.

I need to read more books. I read articles, blogs, news, etc online but it isn't the same. One thing I like about forums and other places is where people actually discuss differing ideas. I learn so much from that.

14 skillets? Cast iron and other types? I'm curious about why you have so many and what you use them for.

I want to garden but I have absolutely no idea the difference between a weed and what I plant so I don't know what to pull when they're still small enough to pull easily. I've read about stuff but I guess this is one case where I would learn best by working with someone that told me what to do. Some things are ready to learn from with experimenting but growing stuff is not one of those for me.

This heat is getting to me. It makes me not feel well and then I start worrying if I'm getting sick and well that's not good.

I want to listen to some live music in a chill outdoor venue that has great fans and eat a tasty meal that I didn't cook.

Same! That sounds like a perfect summer evening.

What do you put in your burgers, btw?

Homemade burger, it is spicy, the secret binding ingredient being Vogels bread. This is a NZ bread, however, you can buy it in the UK, as it is popular with the kiwi's on OE.

The rest of the burger is reasonably plain, normally simply gherkins, with a spicy tomato, or lime chilli, or lemon ginger, or mustard sauce, the topping is always a difficult choice.

Your hotel looks great seela, like many you find around Europe. Clearly you are enjoying the sight-seeing and weekend away.

I went to a funeral this morning. It was a graveside service...I sat under a tree some distance from the assembled mourners, smoked a cigar, and said goodbye to my old friend. It was a surprisingly good experience.

I have roses and lilacs. You sound like you may be in the NE.
How deep did you have to dig to clear the roots? I have no patience for that.

Well this shrub was completely dead, it pretty much just fell over and the roots were soft enough to pull most of them out. They weren't too deep. I planted it about 6 years ago. I'm not sure why it died, my other two are doing great. And yes, I'm in Ohio, so NEish :)

So sorry for your loss, twister.

Same! That sounds like a perfect summer evening.

I was really lucky for a brief time when I lived within walking distance to a place that had all of that. I miss it so much.

Actually, some radissons are very cute.
I just did my vitamin cabinet. I did my Pyrex and lids the other day. No mercy!
I tend to hoard.

I so badly need someone to keep me on track at organizing several things around my house....

Look to see what is indigenous to your area. Roses do an amazingly well here, all varieties. So, I have tons of rose bushes.
I also have mint. It’s gone wild.
Next year I will pot it, but the bees love it, and we need bees.

I need to read more, too.

I have looked. It's important to me to use native species. I want a veggie garden and more flowers. I want it to look good and be mixed in without necessarily being rows.

Umb, there are many good reasons to landscape with natives. The birds will sing your praises.
