Still Crazy...

And Happy Anniversary to Sanity Clause

Speaking to the Democratic National Committee, which met to select its new leadership this weekend, the outgoing chair, Jaime Harrison, attempted to explain a point about its rules concerning gender balance for its vice-chair race. “The rules specify that when we have a gender-nonbinary candidate or officer, the nonbinary individual is counted as neither male nor female, and the remaining six officers must be gender balanced,” Harrison announced.
As the explanation became increasingly intricate, Harrison’s elucidation grew more labored. “To ensure our process accounts for male, female, and nonbinary candidates, we conferred with our [Rules and Bylaws Committee] co-chair, our LGBT Caucus co-chair, and others to ensure that the process is inclusive and meets the gender-balance requirements in our rules,” he added. “To do this, our process will be slightly different than the one outlined to you earlier this week, but I hope you will see that in practice, it is simple and transparent.”
Molly Ball of the Wall Street Journal elaborated:

Later in the program, an audience member stood up to lament that there was only one at-large seat set aside for a transgender person, and called on the candidates to add another seat and for “making sure those appointments reflect the gender and ethnic diversity of the transgender community.” Only one candidate raised his hand to indicate he wouldn’t make such a commitment.
Yes, friends, still crazy after all these years…and the encroaching dementia is not benign. Can this party be saved? I have my doubts. The intellectual corrosion is comprehensive; it is only matched by the self-righteous arrogance. But what’s the alternative? I’ve been through Dems in Disarray syndrome multiple times in the past: in 1972, in 1980, in 1988, in 2016…but, gotta say, this is the worst I’ve ever seen it. There is a vast cluelessness abroad in the party. Its prevailing vision of an America based on identity now resides in the outhouse. Even my former employer, The New Yorker, repository of stately, elegant liberal myopia has noticed that something is amiss:

It's a pitiful sight to behold.

How many of these threads do you need to feel heard?

Your entire livelihood is to see the demise of the Democratic party. Nobody cares what people you agree with say about how they should reorganize

Not with this shit going on. The inmates have truly taken over the asylum.

Yet here you are.

So, in your eyes, the Democrats are focusing too much on cultural and gender issues and not enough on economic, energy, health, or other domestic policies. If this is in fact the case then yes, this is a problem. They need a broader and more inclusive platform.

I am not against diversity or transgenderism at all, for the record. (unlike the OP, and whatever name Hisarpy is using at any given time- calling himself "HumpdayHoratio" here.) But this cannot be the primary policy objective of either major political party. They need to focus on economic, energy, tax, health care, and other policies that affect the majority everyday Americans- not just the .03125% that are transgender. Being in favor of trans rights, gay rights, etc. is good- but that cannot be the primary focus.

"Can the Democrats be saved?"...asks the very-much-dead Republican party.

Are you a Republican?

Both parties should die
They will when expenses exceed their usefulness, probably decades ahead. Moving from fringe ideology to the polled center started the day after the election for many candidates. Politicians save their own butts because they know the government won't do that for them.

After the investigations are completed, the charges files, the trials had, the guilty verdicts returned and the death sentences carried out, how many will remain???

🤣 :nana:

Going by voting registration, there were more Democrats than Republicans last year, and there will be more Democrats than Republicans next year.

The democrat party is polling at 37% and falling fast. Trump and friends are going to go straight for those disaffected democrat voters that are being put off by their politicians behaviors.

I think the Democrats will eventually win back BOTH chambers of Congress.
