Capital Romance (CLOSED for Kaligurl222)

The plane touched down and Kali looked over at her companion and smiled, "I can promise you that I am very much interested... You will be hearing from me."

As they exited the plane, Will smiled again hearing Kali's exuberant assurance. At the gate they headed in different directions, Will to the baggage claim area because he had a piece of checked luggage and Kali off to take the Metro subway, as she had only a carry-on.

Retrieving his bag as quickly as he could Will made his way to ground transportation and grabbed a taxi to the St. Regis hotel. It was 4:00 p.m. by the time Will checked into his room, unpacked and settled in. Oddly, he and Kali and not set a time for their dinner date. For all he knew she might call him and suggest dinner in an hour, or maybe not for several hours.

Will assumed that even if their dinner date started fairly early and didn't last more than a couple of hours, he wouldn't be in much of a mood to do the work that he should be doing to prepare for his business meetings in the morning. Given that, Will knew, he should buckle down at the moment, work hard, and await Kali's call. But he couldn't concentrate. Will's mind was filled with images of Kali, her looks, her voice, her touch. So, he shaved and showered, never leaving his cell phone more than a few inches away.

Drying off after his shower, Will donned his undershirt and briefs, threw himself on the luxurious bed, and started flipping through the cable channels on the room's TV. Kali had completely captured his mind; he could only wait and hope.

They said their good byes and went separate directions... It was nice to know it wasn't a forever goodbye tho. Kali made it back to her little apartment and unpacked the little she had in her carry on bag. She glanced at the time and decided she should call and set up a time for dinner so she knew how long she had to get ready. She pulled out his number from her purse and dialed the number, it only rang twice before she recognized the voice on the other end of the line. She instantly smiled, "hi will. It's Kali. Hope you got settled in at your hotel... So I was thinking of dinner at 7 if that works for you? I can text you the name and address of the place and meet you there?" When he agreed they hung up and she looked at the time. 7 left her enough time to shower and take her time getting ready. If he had seen her in sweats after being up for half the night at her friends wedding and he was still interested in her... Well she wanted to look good for him.

She showered and dried her hair, leaving it down and curling it in big loose curls. She never needed to wear much makeup wise, and then she stood staring into her closet.. Hmm what was she going to wear?! She searched the closet before finally deciding on a dark Crimson colored dress. It wasn't overly fancy but it wasn't the casual type of dress either... She felt it was the perfect balance. She paired it with a pair of black heels and then looked in the mirror, giving it her approval she headed to the restaurant.

It took will only two rings on his I-phone before he answered. His phone allowed for two separate lines; he had given Kali his "personal" number rather than is business one. So, he was certain that it was she. Hearing Kali's voice, though just for a brief conversation, filled Will with warmth from head to foot. And, Will realized, also with more than a little bit of lust.

Will readily agreed to meet Kali at the address she had given him. Consulting the map on his phone and doing just a little bit of internet searching Will realized that the address of the restaurant that Kali had given him was in a section of the city called Adams-Morgan, which, among other things, was well-known for Ethiopian food. Quite a different section of DC than the neighborhood around his St. Regis hotel, but Will was pleased. He liked exploring different parts of cities that he visited.

Will thought over what to wear. Most of the clothes that he had brought with him for this trip were geared to the expensive business suits that he wore to his meetings, too formal for this occasion. He decided to let Kali see his casual side. Will chose a cotton, open collar shirt, and the pair of almost new, black jeans that fit him as though they had been tailored for his body. A pair of soft-souled leather shoes rounded out the costume. He looked quickly in the bathroom mirror, and smiled. His daily trips to the gym, even when on the road, were quite evident in this casual, but snug fitting, outfit.

Will hated being late, and he wanted to get to the restaurant ahead of Kali. Sort of the "man in charge" idea that he had never entirely let go of. The taxi trip was quick. Appropriately driven by an Ethiopian cab driver, as were almost all cabs in DC , as Will subsequently learned. Will successfully got the waiter to seat him at a two-person table in a quiet corner of the restaurant, perfect for eating and talking with Kali, and maybe a little flirting to boot.

He saw Kali as soon as she entered. Will's jaw nearly dropped. He had found her to be attractive dressed in her sweats. Dressed as she was now, she was absolutely beautiful to him. Will stood by his chair, his tall figure visible across the room. With a broad smile, and a slight gesture, he beckoned Kali to join him.

Kali had major butterflies as she made the drive to the location... When she arrived she took a steadying breath and walk into the restaurant. As she stepped forward Will caught her eye- having arrived early and gotten them a table already. She was relieved that he was already there, her nerves started to subside as she made her way over to the table, smiling. He had gone with a more casual outfit tonight and it was perfect. He looked damn good!
"Hey, I hope I didn't keep you waiting long!" As she said it she stepped forward and gave him a friendly hug.

Will was feeling warm all over as Kali made a beeline for their table, sporting a pleasant and light demeanor. That she maneuvered herself and initiated a friendly hug was more than Will had hoped for. After all, not only had they just met but he still wasn't quite sure what the nature of Kali's feelings were toward him.

When Kali draped her arms casually around him in the classic "A-frame" friendly hug, Will knew that he wanted more. Still, he didn't want to make an unwelcome advance. Placing his big hand squarely in the middle of Kali's back, Will applied gentle, but firm pressure, inviting her to move in closer.

It sent all the right signals when he pulled her in a little tighter for the hug... It is what she was hoping for. She slid into the seat across from him and smiled. "So did you get all settled in at your hotel and everything?"

Will was pleased to see that Kali didn't react negatively to his pulling her a little closer. He noted, though, that she didn't escalate the contact any more. She was being cautious, arguably a good idea under the circumstances of having just met. Still, Will pushed just a little more. Taking his seat he positioned himself so that their knees were touching lightly. He didn't make any big deal of this, but Will was pretty sure that Kali was aware of his move.

Replying to her inquiry Will began, "Yes, thanks. I got unpacked, showered, shaved, dressed for a casual evening, and made ready to meet my beautiful dinner date." Will paused, trying to find the right words. "Um...my dinner date...she deserves the best."

She smiled, blushing a little as he commented about his dinner date, "well I am glad we could make it happen... It's easy to say "yeah sure lets meet up sometime" and then never talk to the person again.. I really was hoping that this wasn't one of those circumstances." She couldn't help but to notice that their legs were brushing against each other, not an unpleasant thing at all.

Kali seemed so at ease that Will found himself at ease as well. It would be far too early to think of their interaction as a "relationship", but it did seem to Will as though they were interacting with one another in a comfortable way that would wasn't common for a first date.

Will noticed that he had made a reference to "my beautiful dinner date", and Kali did not seem to have any negative reaction to the "date" term at all. So, Will thought, they apparently were having a "date" after all.

Ethiopian meals, Will and Kali soon learned, involve many small food items, often served on a platter and eaten on bread with one's fingers. This lead to a lingering meal that allowed for much conversation. Will liked that they were getting to know each other. They talked about a wide variety of things that they liked to do, or didn't like, tastes in music or food, and so on. However, Will tried to steer the conversation away from topics that would highlight the very substantial differences in their ages or the large differences in their social class.

As much as Will enjoyed Kali's company and their conversation, the relaxed evening was feeling a little flat. He decided to venture out a bit. "So, Kali", Will began, "I'm having a very good time having dinner with you, and you seem to be enjoying it as well. What would make this a perfect evening for you?"

Kali was having a great time. Disputes the vast differences in them they had a lot in common and she was quickly hooked. Their meal had winded down and then he asked her what would make the evening perfect and she smiled, "hmm perfect huh? Well so far we are off to a good start... I can't think of a lot else... Of course there's always dancing, which if you ask me always makes things better.. But then again, I would be perfectly happy just walking down the streets, the city really is beautiful, especially under the glow of the streetlights..." She looked over at him and shrugged..

Will smiled at both Kali's suggestion and her willingness to just let him decide either way. He liked the dancing suggestion in no small part because it might offer them the opportunity to be a little more intimate physically, particularly with a slow dance.

Tomorrow was a workday for Will, so he didn't want to stay out late enough to go to the club scene. It didn't take him long on his I-phone to find a bar not too distant that had a band and a dance floor.

Finishing their dinner, Will and Kali left the restaurant for the short walk to the bar with music. Will made a further move, offering Kali his hand as they walked. Entering the bar Will noted that the band was nearing the end of a slow dance, probably headed toward a short break. This was good, thought Will, because it would give Kali and him time to have a drink and probably have a couple of fast dances before considering whether they wanted to have the more intense experience of a slow dance.

She smiled when he suggested the bar with a dance floor and a band. She slipped her hand into his as he offered it and they headed to the little bar. They each ordered a drink while the band took a break between sets. She sipped her drink and looked over at him, amazed at how everything had kinda snowballed.. She never expected to be out with the stranger who had sat in the seat next to her on the plane.

As the next song started Kali pulled him out to the dance floor with her, it was a typical dance type song with a nice beat. As they started to move to the music they were fairly close, her hand rested on his shoulder lightly as they moved

Other than the obligatory dance or two as a guest at a wedding reception, Will hadn't been dancing in years, although, in his youth, he had been quite the dancer. He had forgotten the exhilaration of being on the dance floor with a woman to whom you are strongly attracted.

Will was flooded with warmth and excitement when Kali rested her hand on his shoulder. This wasn't yet the "slow dance" that might provide them with the excuse of being very close, but it did afford the opportunity of some more touching. As Kali's hand settled in on his shoulder, Will slowly placed his hand on Kali's back at her waist, his hand just above where she broadened out with a very nice womanly curve.

She smiled as he got comfortable with dancing with her, his hand now touching her. There was no need for words yet she could still feel that connection she had felt to him since they first met back on the plane.

One song led to another and then there was a brief pause as the band returned to the stage. They picked up their instruments and as they got ready to start Kali looked over at Will, "I didn't realize how much I needed this.. Thank you!" The music started again the tempo indicating it was a slow song. She looked at him as she stepped to him- "What do you say?- a slow one before we call it a wrap? I know it's bound to be an early work day tomorrow." Not really waiting to hear his answer as she slipped her arms around his neck, their bodies pressed together.

Will taken a little off guard, but delightfully so. He had imagined that it would be he who initiated an invitation to a slow dance. Kali's body pressed close to his as they swayed to the rhythm of the slow music was like a hot drink on a cold winter day. It ignited Will from head to foot and filled him with both romantic fantasy and lustful urge.

As they danced Will was attuned to each movement of Kali's body. Every time that she moved in a way that would allow for even greater physical contact between them, Will used his strong arms that encircled her to pull them more tightly together, being sure, though, to back off if he felt any resistance from her. He felt none.

They continued their intimate dance for what seemed to Will to be a heavenly eternity, but was, in truth, only a few minutes. Sensing that the song was about to end, Will positioned his head to give Kali a soft, lingering kiss just behind her left ear. "Given my usual wake-up schedule and my typical need for no more than 5 hours of sleep, tomorrow is not a particularly early day for me," Will whispered in Kali's ear, "the night doesn't have to end now if we don't want it to. I have a bottle of wine in my room that's just waiting to be uncorked."

It wasn't the response she was thinking she would get from him... It was a pleasant surprise. She smiled, having felt his feather light kiss behind her ear. She nodded her head, "a glass of wine would be nice before calling it a night." She wasn't ready to say goodbye just yet- knowing she wouldn't likely be seeing him again.

Will wasn't sure what to expect when he made his impulsive offer. Once the words passed his lips he worried that he had been too forward. What might she think that he meant by his offer to accompany him to his hotel room? That he was inviting her for a hook-up? That he was acting as though this evening was like the end of a night for an established dating couple? When Kali responded positively so quickly and so seemingly comfortably, Will's fears were reduced. Whatever she thought he meant, she apparently was OK with it.

That, of course, left what seemed like an even more difficult question for Will. What did he want? And, what did he have in mind when he impulsively made the offer? "Well," Will thought, "maybe it will be OK if Kali and I just make it up as we go."

Will paid the bill quickly, then confidently took Kali by the hand and lead them out to the street. It took little time to hail a taxi. Settling in the back seat, Will tenderly took Kali's hand again, smiling softly in the dark cab. Another thought flashed through Will's mind: whatever Kali had in mind when she accepted his offer, she was about to witness first hand one of the two big differences between them. They were on their way to his room at the St. Regis hotel, one of the premier luxury hotels in the nation's capital that boasted that every American president has stayed there.

From the direction the taxi was taking Kali could tell she hadn't thought it thru completely... He was definitely staying on the expensive side of the city. Nothing over there was cheap... It made her feel a little silly for taking him where she had, bc well let's face it, she couldn't afford to be on this side of town. She exhaled a deep breath and forced herself to relax. He had invited her bc he had wanted to, not to take pity on her or anything. She had been having a great time up till that point and she refused to let it stop now.

As they approached the St. Regis Will squeezed Kali's hand gently a few times. He hoped that he was communicating that he understood that taking her to the hotel illuminated their differences, but that the differences were OK with him.

Moving quickly across the hotel lobby so as to not emphasize the grandeur of the place, Will led Kali to the elevator. As the doors closed and the elevator began its ascent, Will turned toward Kali, cleared his throat, and began to speak awkwardly, "Uh...I know it's not exactly Motel 6, but...um...just so you know...this is the kind of place that I tend to hang out in".

Taking Kali by the hand and moving quietly to his room, Will ushered her in to his plush digs. He went straight to the mini-fridge to get the bottle of white wine that he had referenced earlier. Opening the wine bottle expertly and retrieving two glasses, Will sat himself at one end of the small couch that was a part of the "Superior Room" model that he had reserved. Patting the seat beside him, Will beckoned Kali to join him.
