As far as beer goes, even the crap that we export to "the lower 48" is far better than 99% of your domestics. For a nation that espouses a love of beer the US doesn't do a very good job of making it. Again, with the exception of Sam Adams, which I revere. Especially their Summer Ale, which is AMAZING!

This is a far more interesting topic that this bullshit about Deborah. I agree that Samuel Adams is wonderful, but you too quickly dismiss the vast number of excellent boutique beers made in this country. The list of outstanding purveyors is long -

Sierra Nevada
Anchor Steam
Lagunitas
Gordon Biersch
Mendocino Brewing Company

...just to name a few available in California. I've no doubt that were you to taste our best you would cheer. I certainly wouldn't drink the dog piss put out by the large brewers of this country, but I don't need to rely on imports to have a good beer.
