The latest batch of caucus results released by the Iowa Democratic Party early Thursday morning show Sanders ahead of Buttigieg in the first alignment popular vote 42,672 to 36,718—a lead of 5,954 votes. In the final alignment popular vote, as Common Dreams reported ealier, Sanders is leading Buttigieg by more than 2,500 votes—44,753 to 42,235.

Sanders’ declaration of victory came just hours after Buttigieg, in a conference call with supporters Wednesday night, claimed victory in the Iowa caucus and called himself “the momentum candidate.”

Asked Thursday why the public should believe his victory declaration over Buttigieg’s, Sanders responded, “Because I got 6,000 more votes.”

Is this why Perez wants a recount?

I don't know. Look at it from this angle. If Trump is defeated the election, imagine the meltdown? Trump might just Nuke Iran to distract. Try and claim some executive privilege to over turn the election... the imagination is just wide open as to what he might do.

However imagine this scenario, the Democrats keep the majority in the house, and win 68 seats in the Senate.

Impeach Trump again and Pense too I am sure. Then convict both in the Senate.

From both an entertainment level and realistic level, this looks like the best outcome. So pick Bernie, or Pete, or ... whomever that is the side story, the real story is control of congress...

A new poll out of New Hampshire shows just how much Democrats in the state do not want President Donald Trump to win reelection in 2020.

Per NBC News’ Sahil Kapur, a new poll from UMass Lowell asked New Hampshire Democrats if they would rather see President Donald Trump get reelected in 2020 or a meteor storm that wiped out all life on Earth.

In total, 62 percent of Democrats surveyed said they’d take the world-destroying meteor shower, while only 38 percent would take Trump’s reelection.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) fired back at CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday morning after the “State of the Union” host dredged up a 45-year old quote he made about income inequality.

“Our investigative K-File team found out that in 1974 you said it should be illegal to earn more money than someone could spend in his or her lifetime. You proposed a maximum –,” Tapper began before being cut off.

“Here’s the bottom line,” he continued. “When you have three people that own more wealth than the bottom half of America, when half of the people are living paycheck to paycheck, when 500,000 Americans are sleeping out on the street, yes, the rich have got to pay and the large corporations have got to pay their fair share of taxes. We will raise taxes very substantially on billionaires — no apologies for that.’

Chris Matthews slammed for spreading misinformation about Bernie Sanders’ agenda

MSNBC host Chris Matthews drew rebukes on social media Friday night after suggesting that as a Democratic Socialist, Sen. Bernie Sanders could lead a dictatorship in which establishment political figures would be “executed,” should he win the presidency.

Following the Democratic primary debate, Matthews joined other MSNBC commentators including Joy Reid and Chris Hayes in a panel discussion in which Matthews expressed concerns about Sanders’s democratic socialist ideals, which he claimed the Vermont senator has not clarified.

“I believe if Castro and the reds had won the Cold War there would have been executions in Central Park and I mght have been one of the ones getting executed,” Matthews said, referring to former Cuban President Fidel Castro. “I don’t know who Bernie Sanders supports over these years, I don’t know what he means by socialism.”

Butiegege- Centerist Establishment New Flavor unknown.

Warren- Progressive activist with vagina! A history of doing stuff worthy of Rethuglican resistance.

Klobashar- Centrist Establishment Democrat and self styled pragmatist

The rest are long shots at getting any traction.

Maybe it's time to roll out a new name of someone with credentials (I'd suggest John Kerry, but he's getting as long in the tooth as Biden and Sanders are) and putting together a slate with preannounced cabinet selects that pulls a lot of the existing candidates into the governing mix. I think Klobuchar is good for VP. Maybe Biden would accept Sec State and Warren (Education?), Buttigieg, Castro, Booker, Harris (AG?), Yang--even Bloomberg (Treasury?) would take major departments and all go with a unity government campaign.

I don't see Sanders (or his "Sanders or nothing" supporters) or Gabbard having anything to do with a unity attempt.

Notice, Trumpettes, that I didn't mention Hillary Clinton.

It was 68 years ago. It just reminds everybody how damned old he is. It makes you wonder how much he could possibly understand about the lives of people in their 20s, 30s, 40s.

2. You don’t call voters liars. Maybe if they get up and say Trump is a hero or the whole Russia/Impeachment thing was a plot or Trump isn’t running up the deficit.

Other than that, no liars. You want these people to like you and vote for you.

3. You never call a woman dog-faced. Never. They’re already pissed Hillary isn’t president, that we weren’t spared this whole Trump fiasco. And if you’re a man campaigning in 2020, they probably wish you were a woman.

Just don’t call them dog-faced.

In fact, don’t call anyone dog-faced. We’ve endured three years of a President who calls important people by childish nicknames, like he’s four-years old and bad-tempered. No more childish names or childish insults. We’re sick of that.

4. It’s a minuscule moment of unforced error and gibberish and he-said-what? Which shouldn’t matter much, but Trump has given us so many cringe-worthy moments over the past three years, we’re really ready for a president who doesn’t make us cringe. We want to be able to go to sleep and not wonder what kind of stupid stuff he’s said by the time we wake up.

Complicating Tuesday’s vote, independents — who outnumber both Democrats and Republicans in the state — are allowed to vote in either primary, meaning they could tip the scales in a tight race.

Looming over the primary, Trump himself jetted into New Hampshire Monday night aiming to steal the limelight with a large Manchester rally.
