Let me start by saying I have read the FAQs and guidelines, and I know my plan violates no rules (that I'm aware of), however, I don't want to step on toes, or generate any headaches for the site admin or the one and only moderator.
I have published the first part of a little story I'm working on, and plan to drop the next part on Saturday, the next on the following Saturday, and so on. Frankly, I was rushing and mistakes were made. For a start, I should have sat on my pen name for a bit longer, but I'll live with it. My bigger problem is the hoard of typos and grammatical mistakes in the story. I come from a place with the ability to make corrections after posting. I know Lit is NOT such a place, but when you're used to rush/patch jobs things like this are expected. Not my first fuck-up, and it won't be the last!
In the literary world, we have something called editions. If a mistake or major plot hole is created over the course of a series, authors can create second editions with corrections. I was wondering if it would generate too much work for the Lit publisher (whom I'm aware is a single person at the moment), to create a second edition of the first part of my story with all my corrections, add this second edition to the series, then create a new series (call it mistakes or whatever), then relocate the old first edition work to the mistakes series. I expect mistakes in the future so I Intend to keep the first edition and any future literary abortions there in that series as a reminder of my past mistakes.
Would this be a bad idea? I can't see how, but I really don't want to generate too much work for the publisher.
