We read a lot about Mum/son on here but nowhere near as much regarding Daddy/daughter... and this is not a suggestion for incest but rather one based on the allegedly existing phenomenon of 'father fixation'.
Two people meet in a supermarket checkout queue. They are both immediately taken with each other physically. The young, mid-twenties, married wife is instantly struck by the older (enough to be etc...) man's resemblance to her deceased father, on whom she always had a crush. He had passed away too soon when she was an early teenager, leaving a huge hole in her life and in the care of an unconcerned mother who took but little interest in her. The man, in his sixties, is retired and trying to make the best out of a bad situation in life where he is a carer for his invalided wife. He is thunderstruck by the young woman's likeness to his first fiancée who jilted him, almost at the church, and left him secretly pining throughout the marriage which he went on to make subsequently 'on the rebound'.
Each looks at the other sheepishly and they go their separate ways... but this is not the end of things. The mind of each is in a turmoil of emotions and ideas.
I have my own thoughts as to how it might develop - but would be interested in hearing any suggestions.
