Tl;dr: any chance we could stop suggesting stories that I've already read? At the end of each story. Oh and can we combine chapters in tag results so the sort feature is useful to starting a story at the beginning? Cheers!
I'm logged in when I read stories and I have rated, bookmarked, favorited and commented on many stories. Although, not near as many as may be necessary to accomplish my goal here...
I should start off by saying hello. I'm neal. This is my first post on this forum. I've been reading stories here for years. Long before I even created an account, but I've never really take advantage of the myriad other options this site has to offer. So to introduce myself, I am me. Soy yo. And thats about it. Probably. Anywhozels....
The suggested stories promoted on a given stories final page. Is that based on an authors ad dollars given to lit for the promotion, is it algorithmic, or is it solely based on story tags?
As an tag related aside, I find the favorited or viewed story sort orders to ve basically the only worthwhile options because often highly rated and certainly newer stories tend to be chapter xxx where xxx is > 1 and if I'm seeking out a story.... Perhaps you'd better start from the beginning. Idk if it would be a huge pain in the ass to show results grouped 'combined' like on an authors page maybe with a star adjacent chapters relevant to your chosen sort order. Newest would be kinda superfluous. But this way I can choose to start at the beginning, the most rated viewed or facorited or the newest story in my search results without having to click through the profered story to the author page, seek through 800 other stories. This way cuz I'm an idiot and don't think to click the story overview or can't be bothered to scroll to the last page. Meaning i get it could be slightly easier than I'm making it sound, but it's still a lot of work that I often dont bother with. Instead i try to remember, ok look for chapter one, but if they used different tags, shit i never find that story. Yeah just a tangential dream for an ideal search results. Of course this ideal world would include authors who correctly use tags instead of character names or idk stupid stuff that nobody's gonna look for unless they've already seen your dumb n=1 tags.
So yeah and fuck editing that giant ball of rant. Back to the point....
Suggested stories. Could we please stop suggesting stories that I've already read? Do I need to rate each story I dont need suggested to me? There are a ton of stories that I never learn about because I'm constantly trying to rely on the convenience of your suggestions. If I rate it, you can be reasonably certain I read it, so removing it wouldnt be an unreasonable move. And would keep me engaged and help smaller authors. Idk. Just a thought.
I had abother gripe or request but I can't remember it atm so happy day for your eyeballs and the developers thumbs. But probably a terrible day for your stroke sesh cuz my suggestions are tits.
