Great Exploitations: a study of terrible movies with just the right amount of boobs in them.

I watched a movie called Joysticks last night. Terrible in every way, but fun to see the 1980’s arcade phase in all it’s raw appeal. There were plenty of boobs, an incomprehensible plot, bizarre characters and Joe Don Baker!
Also, short shorts, half shirts, no bras, tube socks with stripes and even a “punk” character.
Thankfully, the film was made with the cooperation of Midway games that let them use the real arcade games rather than making up fake ones.

There was even a PAC-Man transition effect!

Ah to be a teenager in the 1980’s where women were loose, nerds got laid and there were absolutely zero consequences for everything you ever did! 🤣

This thread will be all about exploitation cinema that you like, hate or are indifferent to.
Please share titles and reviews so we all know what to check out and what to avoid.

So yeah, The Van 1979.

Interesting how there was no plot at all. There wasn’t really even conflict until maybe the last few minutes of the movie and then everything kind of magically worked out in a way that made no sense.

At the same time, it maintained my interest. There were a lot of boobs, but it also had some kind of weird freedom thing that was pretty fascinating. 1979 seems like a fantasy world from some alternate dimension where everything is kind of the same but completely different.

I guess these movies were meant for the drive-in where you were supposed to be too busy “getting balled or balling”, as they say in this movie, to pay any attention to the movie. Maybe every now and then you look up and see boobs.

Interesting times.

I watched this one awhile ago. As usual, not a great movie, but so “of it’s time” it’s ridiculous.

Lately, I’m really into these movies that have almost no plot or real conflict, but are simply nothing more than a day in the life type stories. Every single element in this film is the 1970’s. There is even a fairly long sequence in a roller rink where it is clear they just shot in a real place with real people.

At times, it almost has a documentary feel about it.

I wonder what a movie like this would be like today? Who would it follow? What would it be about? A bunch of teens texting each other while not watching a streaming movie? 🤔

What I found fascinating was the almost nonchalant partner abuse in a comedy.

Saw this in a drive in when it came out. Own it on DVD. Annie Potts's first movie, and she is a blast. Hamill plays a little dim. The cars are fun. Yep, still love it
I love the original trilogy, but if I'm honest, Hamill's acting talents were always in voice acting.

I’d have to add Hard Ticket to Hawaii directed by Andy Sidaris, a low budget action film made in 1987. Actually he made a few and I think they’re packaged as Guns, Girls, and G strings or something like that. Just a showcase for Playboy Playmates or Penthouse Pets to display their formidable assets and acting talents or lack there of. Surprised they didn’t win Academy Awards.
