HBO: True Detective

It's my favorite thing I've seen since the second and third season of breaking bad. It was absolutely fantastic. And for every accolade mcconaughey gets, woodie harrelson should get one too.

I get that the theme isn't for everyone. But the writing and acting are enough to keep people in who wouldn't be otherwise.

When Rust describes getting out of the projects as escaping Mogadishu, he wasn't far off. That was some ride.

Six was a get from here to there episode, and to show some fucking, which was all right because it was starting to freak me out.

Wait until the fucking freaks you out!

Watched this series in it's entirety twice. If I worked for a network I'd have a hard time looking at myself in the mirror everyday, knowing I could never be part of anything this good!

I still thing of that sex scene....where he fucks his partners wife

So that's it? It wraps after 8 episodes and season 2 will be new actors and location and storyline.

That will be a hard act to follow.

On the one hand, it's a disappointment there won't be more of that storyline. On the other hand, how much more could we take?

Fargo wrapped up the same way, I'm wondering if there IS a season two. Hope so...

One of the girls at work insisted I watch it so I started this afternoon. I was hooked after about ten minutes. McConaughey is fantastic in it.

I wasn't much of a McConaughy fan before, but he owns this character.

Always liked Woody, but his character was so detestable I wanted to see him die. A perfectly portrayed Misogynist and cop with a god complex....

Means he played a hell of a role.

I heard the second one is going to be three detectives, two guys one woman and the crime will have aspects of occult, but also BDSM sex.

Sounds interesting, but we'll see.

I just watched Woody in The Hi-low Country. I thought it was a good movie but you would have hated his character in this movie too.

Thru episode 5. That's some really, really dark shit. Award winning dark shit.

Surprisingly, it won very few awards. McConaughey lost the Emmy, the Golden Globe, and the SAG. I doubt anyone would have seen that coming a year ago.

I loved the first season, with the caveats that 1) the central mystery wasn't all that interesting in the end; and 2) Rust's at least partial abandonment of his nihilism was a wee bit of a copout.
