This will hopefully become the new home for the refugees from the Hello From London! thread (Literotica Personals) which was closed after reaching 5000+ posts and the subsequent My Englishness Doesn't Know How to Deal with That thread (The Darkroom Lounge) which was deleted when Allia closed her account.

The Hello From London! thread was a personal thread started by a young man from London by the name of BritishGent1 (Peter). Allia felt that Peter was a lovely gentleman and wanted to assist him in his potential partner procuring efforts. From there it evolved...or perhaps devolved...into discussions of newspaper choices, posh boy fights, and the merits, or lack thereof, of frozen vol au vents from Iceland (the store, not the country, I *much* later realized...hey, I'm not from the UK).

Peter ended up forgetting, perhaps intentionally, his password somewhere along the way. By that time, a core group of us had formed, including Allia, Ruth, and myself. We continued to entertain ourselves and welcome unsuspecting new Litsters, some of whom actually stayed, including Polranny, londoner2, hotoldrguy, Ironfan, phil_0, ReaperW, newrandomperson, Spiritedlady, Mr.D, nick42, and Todger. I apologize if I have overlooked anyone.

We all know that Allia was the heart of these threads. Without her here, I don't know if this thread will survive. However, I knew that people were wondering where to go next, so to speak. So I thought I would take the initiative and create a new thread. I'm not British. I don't take great photos of street art on a regular basis. But I don't want to lose the camaraderie we shared. Hopefully, this will be a place that is welcoming to old friends, as well as to kindred spirits (British or otherwise) as yet to be met. Perhaps Allia will join us again in the not too distant future. So here it goes. I only ask that, going forward, we do not ruminate on the recent events.

I'll raise a glass. Tankard. Mug. Flute. Flagon. Jug. To that.

Shame it's in the darkroom though. Property prices to high for another board?

(😉 I'm kidding, who wants to be on the general board?)

I figured that we would just get moved here anyway.

For you, I'll break out the Glencairn glasses and the single malts. :rose:

Just a heads up. The London thread had a few winners. The 6'000 post was a lurker. (Threads should be closed at 6k) and the last post was random (I'll go look, bug memory serves that was someone new asking where the lit toliets were?)

I'm happy to continue with neither incrimination nor rumination but we must keep a space open for Allia, should she wish, and for new friends.
Being incredibly English...toodle pip!

Actually I'm not English, just incredibly

Erm...yes you are, my dear.
As for the rest, I assumed it was implied. But I will amend my initial post.

I wasn’t a prolific poster in the other thread, and probably wont be here, but definitely wouldn’t have even looked if it was in the gb.

It’s tea and alcohol here for me.

Has anyone ever checked their DNA profile to see how English they really are. I’m considering it. My niece did hers, but it will be different as it will be watered down by her Dad’s mix.

Hey Todge. Thanks for stopping by. I did take a DNA profile, but it was not to see how English I am, because I was pretty damn confident that percentage would be zero. I am 99% Eastern European and 1% British Isles. The 99% matches up with all the family history that I know. It was interesting, at least to me, to look back at census records and see how they reflected the changing map of Europe. Some of my ancestors originally were listed as being from Austria, but only because the part of what is now Poland that they were from was then just part of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Twenty years later the place of birth was listed as Poland.

I know. I'm a nerd. :cattail:

Hello, you lovely people.

Life has just dealt me a huge curved ball that has left me feeling alone, lost, hurt, questioning. I cannot go into massive detail on a public forum. I’m going to tackle this head on. I’m feeling v downbeat about life in general.

I’m avoiding my usual degrees of witty banter as I’m all too aware of my own acidic feelings and don’t want to say anything to those I love and admire that could be taken as an attack.

London thread was my introduction to you lovely people. That thread made me feel like I had a home on this board. Yes, Allia was a big part of that thread and it’s other offshoot, to the point that her own gorgeous persona attracted a lot of attention, all of it thankfully positive.

Thank you

Hey MrD. Sending hugs your way. Hopefully we will find a way back to the witty banter. The London thread was my first home here as well.

It's like a cheap remake of the usual suspects... So which one of you is Keyser Söze?

(Just looked it up, spacey won best supporting actor for it. Who was he supposed to be supporting? - everyone else I guess)

6 Nations back again this weekend.

Notice they're mostly London Welsh, that's my Englishness and my age! My last game was against Gareth

... I hope no one minds if I pull up a seat too.

(not sure why I feel like this thread is similar to a pub ... but there you go!)

You guys seem to have a nice community-led bond and ... well, it would be lovely to contribute a little with guys who share the same timezone!

Admittedly, I never interacted with Allia (I'm still the proverbial newbie in these parts), but I'm aware that she had a profound impact on Lit. I really hope she finds her way back and brings her unique energy - in her own time.

Oh yes. I cannot wait!

You're welcome, try not to wake Nick , unless you have a squeaky toy for him to play with

Count me in! And thank you Angelica aka Angelina for being one American who wants to retain the special relationship between our nations!;)

Hotbrand. Hi. Yup, a very easy going neck of the woods. Personally I'll talk about anything except football. But Allia was a novice fantasy football coach and there are plenty here that like the bag of inflatable flatulence.

And as for our American cousins. FML. Just seen Tramp complaining about the Oscars. A Korean film winning best picture. What a colossal prick.

Not only wants to but succeeds in retaining and maintaining that special relationship

Hi HotBrand! Welcome to our odd little house party. Glad to see you here. I have enjoyed your posts in the audio thread and in your hermitage. I know your gif game is strong, so looking forward to seeing what might pop up here. :)

As far as sport is concerned, I will take rubgy over footie any day, not that I know terribly much about either. Rugby is far more fun to watch. Just my opinion. Then there's cricket...???

Happy to see you here, lovely. I certainly do. :)

But did we expect anything different? Don't get me started. I just finished the morning news. It's day after day of disgust and embarrassment. Sadly, I am not convinced that he won't win again.

I'm not a big football fan, I'm afraid. I used to play but ... I've moved on from those days!

I'm actually not that bad at explaining most of the rules of rugby. I'm *actually* quite good at commentating on games too - and, once upon a time, I did! Rugby is so fun to play (if painful) and such a great game to watch with friends.

... anyone made their prediction for the nation who will win the tournament? My proverbial money is on Ireland (I think France will flunk it).

Hello thread! Brilliant title, nice top of the hat to both the predecessors :)
