help finding an editor

Hello, I'm a Literotica "virgin" and am looking for help in publishing my first story, specifically finding an editor. I have visited the find an editor page and have contacted 5 people. I got only one "I'll be glad to help" response, but when I sent my story, the editor went dark. No response as to whether they had received the story or could open the file. I know they are volunteers working on their own time, but as an author, I'd like to know they have access to my story.

Me: I'm an older heterosexual male in a monogamous long term relationship (decades).

My story: I've written a story about a 30-something woman with little confidence having a sexual epiphany and taking control of her sex life. It's likely best in the Erotic Couplings or Exhibitionist/Voyeur categories. Story tags might be: masturbation, lesbian, blow job, exhibitionism, tease, edging, toys... (That's something else on which I can use guidance.)

Any advice is appreciated. TIA

Hi, I'll DM you and see if maybe I can help.
You gave some good info on your story, but should also usually include the length to give people an idea of the size of the task.
I also expect you'll get dinged for including your e-mail address - I'm pretty sure that's a no no in the forum.
Regardless, look for a Conversation from me.

Bear in mind what you're asking for. Editing is hard work: on average, it will take a professional editor about an hour to check 1000 words - and they get paid a decent rate for it.

So even a single Lit page of 3700 words will take your volunteer about half a day, and a lot of mental energy. (I'm a professional editor, and my daily limit is about 5000 words. Any more than that, and I'm a wreck by the end of the week.) I think a lot of the volunteer editors here on Lit find that out the hard way, and give up.

If you find someone to edit your story, cherish them. Give them all the time they need, be prepared to answer questions immediately, or fix recurring mistakes yourself. Do whatever you can to lighten the load for them. Learn from the mistakes they correct or the suggestions they make. Basically, be respectful of the time and effort they're putting in to your story.

Thanks. The story is 8,100 words long. I have already run it through spell checks and Grammerly. I'm looking mostly for another set of eyes to advise me on what doesn't make sense, story flow, and the like. Yeah, I didn't realize about the email and a moderator removed it.

Shoot me a DM

I will read it and tell you if I liked it and anything that reached out to me good or bad. I read over a hundred stories a day. I will warn you that if you talk about breast size, especially large ones or dick size I will urge you to change it. Let the reader put in their own preference.

Thank you. How shall I send it to you? As an attachment?

I've never used a Literotica editor, but have you thought about posting the same question in the Editor forum?
