Hi all,

UK based sex starved male here. Has anybody ever used one of those hook up websites? I've looked plenty of times, but always held back from registering because I'm not convinced they are real or legitimate. I did go on one a while back and started talking to what I thought was a real person, only to realise they were not when they referred to an area near to where I live by a name that I have never heard anybody use!! It was just a scam to take people's money. Do people feel like these kind of forums are the best way to get to know people in a relatively safe environment with no dodgyness going on?

It can happen but it's rare. Mostly it's dodgyness.

I'm not sure what the UK has in the way of "hook up sites". But I have had some pretty good luck with dating sites. You do how ever have to be aware of certain things even with 'real" people. You seem to know how to weed out the frauds and what's legit so that's a huge plus.
Just like everything else on the internet there are scammers lurking.

State side I’ve had good fortune being on “Sniffies”. You can log in as a non member and seek, or sniff around and see who’s out there. Or like other sites, join for free with limited access.

No, the best way is real life. I’ll use an app if nothing’s going on but I much more enjoy getting numbers from real people I meet in the course of my life.

Fair enough! Oddly, for me, sometimes it takes more balls to use the number than to ask for it in the first place.
