How to properly douche

Sorry if this kinda thread exists already. I'm trying to prepare myself to bottom for the first time. I've been playing with toys for a bit. Sometimes I douche until it's clear but then leak (coloured) liquid after. From my research, I think I put too much up there. And/or didn't wait long enough to make sure it all came out (30 mins)

I've been talking to a guy and want to make it happen, but want to not have to worry about making a mess of the situation.

Thought I'd ask some professionals

Honestly, it sounds like you've got it all figured out. I have nothing to add.

There is an extent to which it depends on someone's colon health in general. Someone with healthy firm stools will have an easier time of this than someone with chronically loose and mobile stools. People like that might benefit from a fiber supplement and a fasting period before "the event."

No worries, you’re on the right track! Sounds like you might be overdoing the douching a bit. I’d suggest cutting back on the amount of water and waiting longer for it to fully come out. If you're still leaking, maybe try a smaller amount of douching and leave it a bit longer to ensure everything’s cleared.

I totally understand your circumstances...I always douche/enema before I do anything anal...I use a shower attachment and I actually enjoy how it feels yet sometimes I'll "leak" afterwards as well...I do think, as someone pointed out, that how clean I get depends a lot on my diet, what and how much I ate prior to doing my enema...I think too that sometimes I put too much "up there" and I'll leak afterwards

Agree on the shower nozzle. No need to try to hold too much in, just let it wash in and out so you are just cleaning out the part that will be in play.
