…what is the process on here? Do I write it outside of the site and then copy it over? Can I work on something periodically directly on this platform?

I'm pretty sure most people here write somewhere else. Like Google Docs, or Word, and then once you're done with editing you paste it in to submit onto Lit.

I know several authors who write their stories directly into the text box in their control panel. This doesn't seem to cause them any issues, although I'd be careful to save regularly.

Myself, I like to write in Word and then copy the story into the text box. That way I always have my own copy offline. But some people don't like to have their smut stored on their hardware, which is also completely understandable.

I write in Word, then copy it over using the "new story" link at the top.

Be aware, it will go into 'pending' status. It can take days. But sometimes it's must faster. My most recent submission seems like it didn't even take 48 hours. I've heard copying and pasting is faster than submitting by uploading a file.
