Impeachment not going so well?

Better tell Gunther that Pelosi’s quid pro quo is legitimate, too.

Sad deflection is sad...and obvious.

Asking the Ukraine to investigate Ukrainian shit before we give them money and weapons isn't interfering with our elections nor is it bribery.

Even if it exposes scum bag (D)eez doing scumbag things that might shit on their bid for the presidency.

Cubantripod writes: "Trump won in part on building a wall."

Yes, Trump's border wall is definitely going up! The Democrats certainly LOST that battle!

phrodeau writes: "Attempted bribery is one of the abuses of power in the first article of impeachment."

We shall see if the House impeachment prosecutors can make that case in the U.S. Senate, phrodeau!

BotanyBoy writes: "Asking the Ukraine to investigate Ukrainian shit before we give them money and weapons isn't interfering with our elections nor is it bribery."

No, it's not - but after the Mueller Report's findings left them high & dry, they HAD to find something - virtually anything - that they could come up with instead! And the Ukraine was the best they could use as an excuse to impeach on such a short notice!

phrodeau writes: "Start on page 3 line 13. You will find attempted bribery there."

Start on page 3 line 13. You will find attempted bribery there.

Once again, there are 6 legal elements to bribery:

1. The individual being bribed is a "public official," which includes rank-and-file federal employees on up to elected officials;

2. A "thing of value" has been offered, whether it's tangible (such as cash) or intangible (such as the promise of influence or official support);

3. There's an "official act" that may be influenced by a bribe (such as pending legislation that may have a direct impact on the party offering the bribe);

4. The public official has the authority or power to commit the official act (for instance, the official is a senator who is voting on a particular piece of legislation);

5. There must be the establishment of intent on the part of the bribing party to get a desired result (the intent to sway the vote by handing over an envelope full of cash); and

6. The prosecution must establish a causal connection between the payment and the act meaning there must be more than just a suspicious coincidence.

The reason why it doesn't appear in the articles of impeachment.:rolleyes:

(Like maybe the elected President of Ukrain?)

2. A "thing of value" has been offered, whether it's tangible (such as cash) or intangible (such as the promise of influence or official support);
(Like $400 Million in military aid?)

3. There's an "official act" that may be influenced by a bribe (such as pending legislation that may have a direct impact on the party offering the bribe);
(Like withholding Congressional approved aid?)

4. The public official has the authority or power to commit the official act (for instance, the official is a senator who is voting on a particular piece of legislation);
(Like directing the OMB to hold the funds 90 minutes after asking for a favour and not advising Congress?)

5. There must be the establishment of intent on the part of the bribing party to get a desired result (the intent to sway the vote by handing over an envelope full of cash); and
(Like having the Whole Team asking for an investigation, while with holding the funds?)
:D:D
SO there was bribery then?
6. The prosecution must establish a causal connection between the payment and the act meaning there must be more than just a suspicious coincidence.
(Like having the State Dept. and VIce President asking for investigations while asking for "favours"?)

The reason why it doesn't appear in the articles of impeachment.:rolleyes:

Attempted bribery is one of the abuses of power in the first article of impeachment. If you read it you would see.

I'm sure you saw collusion when you were being told to as well and Russian voter interference wonder what'll be next

mmm. how about

it is political stupidity. the clintons are the biggest scum and for years we "the People " did nothing. so here we are.

Wow. Bill Clinton hasn't been president for almost nineteen years, but it's still all his fault.
And they accuse us of being deranged...

She never said Bill Clinton, she said the Clintons and her statement has a lot of truth to it.

What I can't quite get past is how all you Libs seem to be more pissed off that a sitting POTUS called for an investigation into corruption than the vast amount of corruption that it uncovered.
Who cares if he used his position to demand an investigation! I'm glad he did, why doesn't it bother you that it uncovered what was going on with Biden and his family and many others. Who cares if it showed a political opponent in a bad light it SHOULD, he's a fucking scum bag. Is that who you really want to stand behind?

Trump wanted a big, public, on-camera announcement of an investigation.

Trump wanted a big, public, on-camera announcement of an investigation.

Regardless of what he wanted, it wasn't bribery.

It was more like, "HEY UKRAINE. DO YOU DAMN JOB!"

Bribery would be more like, "Hey, Ukraine. Want a billion bucks? Investigate Biden and find him complicit in your corruption."

Your daily reminder that Trump is still our President and no articles of impeachment have been delivered to the Senate.

BabyBoomer50s writes: "Your daily reminder that Trump is still our President and no articles of impeachment have been delivered to the Senate."

Thank you for that update, BabyBoomer! Nancy Pelosi's efforts to remove President Trump from office have hit the proverbial iceberg, or so it would appear!

Of course, Republican defenders of the president have long pointed out that the House Democrats never had a serious case to make in the first place, and Nancy Pelosi's current foot-dragging makes this readily apparent! Even many of her defenders (who thought she was being serious) are puzzled! If Trump is such a clear & present danger to our nation, WHY sit on the articles of impeachment instead of immediately forwarding them to the Senate for a trial?

Speaker Pelosi never intended to do this - impeachment was simply a Democratic Party ploy to weaken the president's 2020 re-election bid, and a Senate trial with Trump then being acquitted would only have the OPPOSITE effect! Of course, this ultimately proves that impeachment was NEVER anything more than a cheap partisan political trick! And when the American voters digest this, it will very likely cost the House Democrats GREATLY in the 2020 elections!
