So, last week @verseandworse2 published the second part of his two-part epic erotic narrative poem, Love Song of Tanya and Vineet
Part 1: Imbibing Germs
Part 2: When the Earth Moved
The Erotic Poetry category is criminally underused and overlooked, even the very best works there get a scant thousand views, and most only get a couple hundred.
To a certain point I get it, dirty limericks aren't usually particularly erotic or arousing, and usually not even very amusing. More personal romantic poetry is lovely, but Literotica is a tough venue for that kind of work. Part of the problem I have with categories is that they unfairly pigeonhole some stories, collapsing them into just one narrow label when they're more complex than that.
I wanted to point out Tanya and Vineet, because I think it's an undeserving victim of category collapse!
Briefly, it's the story of an Indian college student and his horny girlfriend, and their struggle to be intimate with each other despite disapproving parents and difficult circumstances. It's culturally specific, at times surprisingly funny, at times surprisingly erotic
It's over 10k words total, told entirely in rhyming couplet. At first I was skeptical, I probably wouldn't have read it if I hadn't worked with VerseAndWorse on an earlier writing project. But I found that telling an erotic narrative in this form was shockingly engaging!
It creates a weird kind of tension, and elevates a fairly standard erotic farce into something that feels slightly epic, like Beowulf or the Odyssey... But about a hard-up college guy trying to sneak past his girlfriend's mom and get into her pants instead of a legendary hero slaying a monster
I won't say that it's perfect... It goes a little long for my taste, and some of the verses are more successful than others. There are a couple moments of reluctance and dubious consent that I personally could have done without, though they're brief and ultimately give way to enthusiastic consent.
But the style held my attention the whole time, and there's some genuinely delightful imagery and language in there!
Right now Part 1 has ~250 views and Part 2 has ~110 views, a rounding error compared to non-poetry categories. It deserves better!

Alone have brought the bottoms down well past her knees? Her thighs,
Long, supple, brown, skin butter-smooth, lay stripped before my eyes.
She still had her black panties on. And once again, I'd lose it!
A tiny, damp map of Japan upon her panties' gusset
Its fragrance to discuss. .. Well, if that body scent of hers
I earlier praised Miss India were, this was Miss Universe.
Think of the world's aromas best - think lily, jasmine, rose,
Ethiopian coffee, cumin fried, vanilla... none of those
With this compared; they paled into insignificance! Down
I dived into her wonder world, to savor it, to drown
