1,440 posts and you've been here since last April. We would expect that you know how to copy a link, yes. Good girl. This is not the lesson you should be working at though.

You really don't have a whole lot to offer, do you? I could get bored with you rather quickly. Let's talk about something else for a while.

Have you found a PYL who will put up with your sorry excuse of a surely ass yet?

Sure, I've been with my husband for 11 years. And my Dom for a bit over a year and a half. I'm not sure what this has to do with anything..but there you have it.

Bless thier fucking hearts.

So, does your husband know about your 'Dom'?

Is your 'Dom' one of those online things?

'LDR' too, or just an online fling?

Is your 'Dom' a member of Literotica, too?

Of course my husband knows about my Dom. I'm in a poly marriage. Nope my Dom isn't an online only thing. I don't do the online thing. I talk to him everyday and see him a couple times a month. No he's not a member of Lit. Sorry to disappoint you with my answers. I'm sure you thought I was cheating on my hubby with an online Dom..not the case.

I voted no, for a few reasons.

First off, I don't think that the ones we have are doing a bad job. I've occasionally taken issue with some of the actions taken, but both Cat and M were willing to discuss it with me. Some things changed, some didn't, but at least they were willing to discuss it and explain their POV as well as look at it from mine.

Second, it's a LOT of work. I DO it on another forum. Admittedly, my job on the other forum is a lot more labor intensive, and I am one of the Admins. I'm lucky that we get to appoint extra mods as needed. But still, it's a lot of work since I actually have to mod one of the more touchy forums.

Third, I don't care if those who want new mods don't explain their position. You have a right to feel the way you do, and you don't owe me an explanation. However, I think it's worth noting that none of the naysayers have volunteered to do it themselves. Some of you may not like what's going on with the Mods we have, but no-ones willing to do the job! I'm not saying that you have to volunteer if you don't like it, but I find it interesting that none of them are willing to put themselves out there on the firing lines. Would I be willing to do it? Maybe, but probably not due the heavy duties I have elsewhere. I've about reached my point of no return, time wise.

I can see where it would be good to get "fresh blood" moderation wise, and I support that. We rotate Mods on my other forum because of that. Mods serve for a set time period, and after that, they might get re-appointed, but they might not. And a lot of times, our re-appointees end up Modding a different area of the site. That obviously wouldn't work here, because we might get someone who hates bdsm in the forums here, but anyway... I hesitate to bring up my next point because I don't want to feed the drama llama, but... Marquis does takes breaks when he needs to, and Cat doesn't. I'm not pointing fingers; I think that its good that he does it. Obviously, he's doing what he needs to do to stay sane and still do the job. I would suggest a third mod, because at times, these two forums are busy enough for that. Not all the time, but sometimes. And that way everyone could take a break every now and again.

If we did add another mod, I'd like to suggest that we not do a public thread. Make a list of who you think would be good, start at the top and work your way down, and then, if you think the drama llama can be left outside, post a poll with your final choices and let us vote. Or just announce it as you did with Marquis. I trust your judgment.

I nominate. If you need to add or change anything.
I'm sure you'll turn it down and plead business, snowy, heh.

Jesus Christ on a pogo stick people.

I voted no. I think Cat and Marquis are doing a great job with what they have to work with. This is a free speech site and they keep it that way. They don't give anyone too much shit for some of the multiple threads all having the same meaning or all the drama and they encourgae everyone here to be free in their expression.

They put the time and effort into it that they have to ensure that everyone enjoys themselves and for the amount of time I've been on here, I haven't seen them do anything to fuck up the boards or not stick up for or help anyone who may need direction, a shoulder or advice.

I love how they keep this board moderated yet free, which is why its the only one I hang out on. I've made some great friends here thanks to they way they handle the board.

Personally, I think Cat and Marquis deserve a handshake, hug and pat on the back for keeping it together here and not saying 'fuck it' and letting shit fall apart.

Yeah. I'll give you that. You do seem like just the type, if there is such a type, of course.

True that.
Good post.

No fluff here, people. Move along.

I voted no, for the same reasons Nala mentioned. Malin and I moderate our own board and I get accused all the time of being too lighthanded.. so I can appreciate what they put up with here and think they're doing a wonderful job

I voted no. I'm more of a lurker than a regular poster, I know, but I think they're doing a fine job and I'm grateful that they've stepped up to the plate. I enjoy coming in here; it's the only forum I've ever signed up for that I'm actually still regularly visiting, let alone posting in. I've been around long enough to know moderating is a tough job, even though I've never done it. Thanks C & M for all the good job you do!

Jesus Christ has a pogo stick? I don't remember that in my New Testament!

You're right, I'd have serious reservations about doing it, because I know that I'm going to be scarce during certain times of the year. Like May and June (end of the school year, I teach AND go to school.) The entire month of November. The last three weeks in December. See, I have this thing about agreeing to do something when I know I won't be able to hold up my end of the stick. But like I said, I don't really think we need new mods; maybe an extra one to keep the ones we have from getting burned out. It's just that watching the librarian thread get all icky and stupid in parts made me think that maybe we shouldn't do it that way again. Maybe let people discuss it amongst themselves and PM the suggestions to Cat and M?

Perhaps this is just another reflection of how much the forum has changed from a serious discussion forum to for some, one for grandstanding, creating special threads for people and their friends(then often accusing others of seeing themselves as above everyone else), inviting play partners to come play with us and loosley disguised personal ads, and basically fighting to get the most attention on a regular basis. I have said it before, but at the risk of being boring will again, we are not a blog, nor are we a personals board, nor a forum to self promote ourselves and our friends...it would be nice if we could go back to posting in discussion threads instead of having seperate threads for every individual where we can or cannot visit depending on how that person likes and/or views us.

Cafe is for the more casual, fluffy side of chatting etc., I just find it disturbing when a lot of threads are started (in quick succession especially ) with one person's name on it (as in a different name on each thread, not many for one person though that is devisive for me as well), and more so when accompanied by an invitation to come see that person in that thread. I guess for me it seems to carry a message of both/or exclusion and 'special people messages' to it which over time can divide the forum into a lot of personal threads about particular personalities, usually those who are happy with attention, and little about discussing BDSM.

In my mind (and yes, it may just be me) I see that person sitting on a virtual golden throne way above the rest, holding court for all who wish to come worship and adore, and are permitted into the golden light, and that is not what has been the flavour of the forum, nor wanted by most ever since I came here. I am also aware that most of these threads are likely not intended to portray this message, but it still can come across that way unintentionally. Who knows, maybe it is all a storm in a teacup in that it is more about how it makes me cringe on a personal level than how it is perceived by others.
The above are excerpts from posts 93 and 113 on the Librarian thread. As far as I can tell, 93 is the post that prompted WriterDom to start this thread, asking about the possibility of new moderators.

Catalina's posts not only express dissatisfaction with the board overall, but also openly insult roughly 90% of the active participants. Her comments echo various other posts I have read from her recently - in which she talks about why she doesn't like to post here much anymore. Taken together, all of this makes me wonder why on god's green earth she wants to continue as moderator.

However, since she has not specifically asked to be relieved, I can't see any reason to ask her to step aside.

What any of this has to do with Marquis, I have no freakin' idea.

I voted no.

People who know me know that I don't care if we have old mods, or new mods, or no mods. This place will open for business regardless. And believe it or not, if you leave for month you'll have a brand new forum. With the same mega threads. Forums are self cleaning things. You can't break them and you can't fix them.

Merry Christmas

This is usually done at the admin level...either people complain to the admins that they don't like the mods, or the mods say they are burned out ask to be removed. I've never heard of "voting in" new mods!

Honestly I don't care if this is the "exclusionary clique" board where I am totally free to post "hey Etoile and snowy, let's have an exclusive three way" where moderators, even, God forbid are ALLOWED to say I'm an exclusionary dick and I am then able to point out that I'm not clannish, or if I am, whatever, deal and we can all fight like semi rational adults in charge of our own shit, cognizant that our ideas of fair and polite will differ.

I would care if the "Emily Post shit" as I referred to earlier begins to dictate what people can and can't say or react to things that are said much more.

There's no fucking place like free speech home.

Moderation should be and more or less is killing obvious spam, removing posts that violate TOS, moving some crap around.

I think people are really being crappy in assuming that things people post are always ex moderator cathedra, this always happens on a vanilla forum I'm on too. It literally has a "be nice" rule and, well, you can imagine what I think of that.

For what time i have been on Lit, i havent seen anything bad from cat or Marquis that wouldn't be appropriate as moderators.

Their own personal opinions stated in different posts are just that; their(the individual, not the moderator) personal opinions.

Boards will always have drama somewhere involved, otherwise it would get awful damn boring; and many people would leave.

Cliques happen online just as much as in real life, and they always will. Some of the cliques here i wouldnt want to be involved in, and others; i already am.

So thank you, Catalina and Marquis; for your efforts and time as moderators. And i realize that your individual opinions arent going to stop either of you from doing your volunteered moderators jobs; without judgement of others here.:rose:

I thought that was what the thread had suggested we do.... the OP, that first post?? So, that was what I did... and part of the reason WHY, too. Maybe i misread it.

She is a Mod, not God. She doesn't have to behave as a Saint. She is not just a moderator, she is a member with opinions just as every other member here. It's within her right to share opinions without having her service as mod questions when other's do not like or do not agree with her opinion.

Many people on many boards do this same thing: Forget that the member serving as Mod was once just a member like everyone else..... sharing opinions. Soon as the person is a mod and no long just a member like everyone else ... some decide to take it upon themselves to stick them up on some silly pedestal and then scream that the sky is falling if they happen to lean to far to either side. Give me a break......

Just because she doesn't like the way things have changed on the board doesn't mena she doesn't care to continue as mod or that she can't continue to do so as effectively as she always has.

Regardless of what you have voted, your points are weak, in my opinion.
You ready to fill her position here JM?

I'm on a forum that has a "be nice" rule also and though it is a very nice place to be it is rather boring. However, there is nothing wrong with some manners. (and I'm not talking specifically about you, Netz, I have never found you to be rude) but there is no reason for people to be rude just to be rude. Especially to newbies. If someone posts something a little out of context or maybe they didn't read the whole thread--would it hurt to either ignore them or just steer them politely in the right direction?

When did being a "bitch" become something to be proud of? I don't see being a bitch as a positive personality trait. There is a difference between politely speaking your mind and not being a doormat and being rude, confrontational and hot-headed. If someone says something stupid I give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were having a bad day, or their kids just then started yelling about being hungry or their cat just spat up a hairball all over their best carpet or something of that sort. No one can be perfect all the time, even the "bitches".

Thanks Netzach. This summed it up....... I always type a frigging book only to find you have already said it in less than a sentence or two at most.

I'm saying the same: Just because a person is moderator doesn't mean they have to be nice all the time ....or that they HAVE to agree or share the same opinion (which is insane cause I don't see how any mod can sit on both sides of the fence..... and there is always more than one side/opinion).
