I was looking at some numbers a bit ago and came across this craziness...

Screenshot 2025-02-22 194601.png

18,500 "views" and 1600 votes? My weak math skills tells me that it's getting 1 vote for every 11.5 views! I don't have anything else even remotely close to this!

Not complaining, just trying to understand. Do you think maybe the LW readers are more likely to vote on a story that doesn't take very long to read?

Surely Lit doesn't have a bug in their voting count that has mysteriously popped up on this story...

I know you get much more reader action and reaction in the LW than in any other category, but I don't have any other explanation for this.

The category defies normal logic in multiple ways. Looking at the last 30 days, your vote count isn't outrageous in comparison. My latest offering there similarly is a vast outlier in my own catalog, with vote numbers an order of magnitude greater than my next most popular story (and also just cracks the 12 month most popular list at 248.) You're No. 30 on the last 30 day top list, congrats!

It is a category with an 'enthusiastic' response rate and robust blood pressure numbers.

First, you have a large following, which suggests a lot of interest in your stories.

Second, it's a good twist on the "we need to talk" trope, in which the wife thinks she's getting over on the husband, but he twists the knife in HER back!

So, I can see where the LW "monogamous-only"/BTB enthusiasts would appreciate the irony. One of my 750-word stories last year which touched a similar nerve "After the Party -- 750 Words" now has over 2K votes!
