Ever thought about peanuts? Were I live they're about 40 pence a packet, roughly 30 nuts, salted, a packet. So it's just over 1 pence per peanut. That 1 pence grows the peanut, harvests the peanut, gets it shelled, gets it roasted and salted, and then packaged. And I have no idea where it's from but I know they're not local! So there's shipping too, and transportation, then distribution to outlets and selling them.
