U.S. Postal Service suspends inbound parcels from China and Hong Kong

Starting today, the U.S. Postal Service is suspending acceptance of packages from the Chinese and Hong Kong postal services “until further notice,” according to its website.

The flow of letters and flats will not be affected, the Postal Service said.

The website did not give a reason for the suspension. The United States enacted a 10% tariff on all Chinese goods imports and closed a trade loophole known as the “de minimis” exemption that allows exporters to ship packages worth less than $800 into the United States duty-free and with minimal scrutiny.

The loophole has helped fuel the success of China-linked online retailers such as Temu and Shein, with cost-conscious U.S. shoppers ordering hundreds of millions of packages a year.

*raises hand*

So, um...how will this affect Walmart, since 70%+ of their stuff comes from there?

[Amazon.com rep raises hand] Yeah; what he asked...

[eBay rep] "FUUUUUUUU........"

Some trucks from a Canadian courier company were refused at the border in multiple states because some of the packages in the trucks were from China.

So I guess our FedEx, Purolator, etc. will have to start removing those items from their trucks?

This is the Lit. The only Chinese imports we care about are Ben Wa balls.

Do you have a link to that? It's news to me.

They ship from their warehouses in the US. Container loads of stuff going from China to the US warehouses won’t be impacted by the USPS decision.
