BUt I need some Idea's this is what I have in mind so far..

modern times with elves and fairy folk there is no aliment what so ever.. so it got to be free willed charcters with guns and such..

if you have more ideas please let me know??

I've played Shadowrun on comp and read some of the books, I wanna be a decker!

I can see you as a Cat shaman for some reason, hates to be dirty and love secrets. (used to have the game masters books)

Shadowrun? Hell yeah!

I love Shadowrun and I still have the Player's book. I call a street samuri. Tell me when this gets going.

You know me, Nighthunter? You called that pretty accurately. Anyway, you're right, Cat Shaman would be cool, I'll post some personal stats once a setting gets defined and some more people show up.

alright! so, we have a shaman, samurai, and a decker, sounds like a team, now lets get some more ppl in this!!WE NEED JOHNSONS!! and blaze i don't think i know yo, it was just a gut feeling. (that and if i was a Shaman, i'd choose Cat)

Okay, that's cool, Nighthunter, I guess. Great minds think alike, and all that.
Anybody have any ideas on Races? Been a while since I read these books, but I seem to recall that most mythological races were involved. Humanoids that I remember were humans, elves, and trolls, but I'm sure there were others. I think I'd prefer human, personally, but if half-elves are possible it'd be even better. Are humans and elves cross-fertile? Seems to me that they are, anybody who has more than a vague recollection of this like me get back to me on this please.

Got this one covered. The races are as follows:

Humans: Need I describe them?

Dwarves: Short and sturdy. They have natural Thermo vision.

Elves: As tall as humans, but thinner and quicker. Natural Low Light Vision.

Orcs: Slightly bigger than humans and thicker. Natural Low Light Vision.

Trolls: Fucking huge mother fuckers and strong as hell. Natural Thermo vision.

I hope that helps!

thanks Logan, yeah, it brings back some memories. I still don't remember whether there's half-elves or not though. (and I mean, half-human and half-elf, not elf and some other race) Any ideas? Or, as an alternative to that, can an elf be a shaman? Everthing i ever read was about a human shaman, so i've never heard anything about whether it works for elves too. Let me know, and thanks for the quick response.

no half-breeds, if an elf and a human have a kid, it will be either one or the other, and every race can have shamans, but elves seem to lean more for Mages, as opposed to the great dragons and such, most nonhuman spell casters tend toward Shaman. (as a point of reference elves, dwarves, orcs and trolls all count as Human "or Meta-human to be percise."

I forgot, all human and "meta-human" races can have kids together, Orcs tend to have twins and triplets, so they are the fastest growing meta-human race. but either way, all of the Humanoid races can breed with one another, but like I said, the children will either be one or the other.

Thanks, I'll go with my original position then and take human. Dragon looks cool, and I seem to remember something about them, but in the interest of keeping this simple and challenging I'll avoid using it as a character. I think it might skew the power ratios of the group, even as a beginning level entry.

Let's see...

Race: Human
Bent: Cat Shaman
Name: Sudian

... I think I'm gonna go read a fewof those books again, i can't seem to remember too much of this stuff...

Hmm... can I join in? I'm reasonably familar with the Shadowrun universe.

Lethe; human (hermetic) mage.

I would really like to get in on this.....but has been forever since I have read anything on Shadowrun.

Hey, join the club Timerline, I havn't read this stuff in years either. Just wing it, and ask questions, everyone else in here seems to know lots about it and they're pretty helpful when you don't know the answer to something. Welcome, and have fun!

and a belated welcome to you too, Lethe, I've seen your writing in Flotsam and you'll be a welcome addition to our merry band.
:D :D

Cool, go for it, Nighthunter, I bow to your expertise and await your leadership. Lead on!

hahahah never let the decker lead, he will only do Matrix runs if he can

Well, maybe not leading then, but at least set up the storyline for us. I'm good with description and fleshing out settings and scenarios, but someone who knows the Shadowrun world well would do a better job than I would.
In other words, (hmmm, drawing on some old memories here but let's see if I can get this right)...

What we need is some absolutely frosty decker help, somebody who's arctic enough to leave no traces and unconcerned what the shadows think of him, someone who can dance the matrix without hitting ice or leaving shards, and come out with some useful fraggin' info on a good run for us, 'cause we is out to frag some item, an' we need a fixer.

It's been many years since I've played (and I was never very experienced) but I've got the books and the love for the Shadowrun world.
Here's an introduction that will give everybody the basic overview of the world as it is now:

The world is changed, some say Awakened.
A lull in the flow of mystical energies subsided, and magic returned to the world. Elves, dwarves, orks, and trolls assumed their true form, throwing off their human guise. Creatures of the wild changed too, becoming things of myth and legend. Modern society fights on, despite the odds, in an effort to assimilate the ways of magic into a technological world.

The decades that followed the Awakening were years of turmoil, panic, and chaos, as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse seemed to race across the Earth. Primitive cultures that had never lost touch with their mystical past began to use magic against the great nations that had suppressed them for so long. The vast, global telecommunications network collapsed under an assault by a mysterious computer virus. Nuclear missiles were launched but failed to detonate. Dragons soared into the skies. Epidemics and famine ravaged the world's populations. Clashes between newly Awakened races and the rest of humanity became common. All central authority crumbled and the world began to spiral down into a black abyss.

But man and his kin are hearty animals. Out of devastation and anarchy, order slowly reemerged. Cybertechnology eradicated the last vestiges of the computer virus and replaced the old telecommunications network with what became known as the Matrix. New nation-states of Amerindians, elves, orks, and dwarves were formed. Metroplexes, vast city-states, sprawled over the landscape. Central governments were replaced by megacorporations that had become a law unto themselves. People who accepted their sovereignty were protected. The outcasts, dissidents, and rebels were exploited and abused, continuing a condition that has existed between the weak and the powerful since time began.
