  • The changing of Standard to/from Daylight Savings won't be a topic in this story. I mean, most clocks don't even work anymore.
  • There are, of course, clocks that will still work after TLWO; any clock or watch that doesn't use electricity or electronic parts still works, right?

Background:
  • Little has been said about her earlier life except that she doesn't smoke or drink.
  • At the start of the RP, she is living with her parents on a small farm/ranch east of Mahlon Sweet Airport (Eugene, Oregon).
  • She is a virgin, though, she has had two "touchy-feely boyfriends" since she began dating at 16 and she has "reached first, second, and third bases" with one or both of them (details unspecified). She wants to have intercourse or oral sex, thought; all of her girlfriends had already given it up.
Her activities in the RP:
  • TNTLWO, she was in her home in Eugene, Oregon, being chastised by her mother and father for being out past curfew and coming in smelling like cigarettes and beer while missing the bra she'd been wearing when she left.
  • She and her parents witnessed a dozen or more massive fireballs from all directions, aircraft falling to the ground and exploding.
The storyline I am thinking of for her:
  • She has a lot of growing up to do. I think this will be a coming of age in the "new world" sort of situation. This scenario requires a male counterpart for sex.
  • Also, since her family has farm/ranch land, I think they will continue to farm/ranch to feed themselves and earn money. This could lead to two obvious situations: them having to navigate the "new world" when it comes to selling their products; and thieves trying to take what they have.
 
Caroline Edwards:

  • She was on the graveyard shift, doing inspections in the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, TNTLWO; local time was 1:44:44.
  • She and another worker, Peter Phillips, fled north in fear of a reactor meltdown.
  • They reached an empty Airbnb house, where they were when last either of them posted.
 
Roxanne "Roxie" Harrington:

Background:
  • Nothing has yet been posted.
  • I don't have anything I want to post here at this moment.
Sexual Background:
  • Roxie initially fell in lust with Glenn's money and lifestyle, but over time that lust became true love.
  • They have an open marriage:
    • Roxie likes men, but she prefers women; either way, she likes them in their mid-20s, as is she.
    • Glenn has similar tastes as does she: young women mostly, ranging mostly from mid-20s to mid-30s.
    • They have sometimes enjoyed the same women, either separately or together, and twice during their marriage they have partaken of a man together.
    • They love to discuss their dalliances in lewd detail.
  • They don't advertise their openness to others. They don't partake of public displays of affection, and they don't talk about their extramarital fun with others.
  • Glenn keeps an apartment on 4th avenue in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter for sales trips and trysts. Roxie uses it infrequently; she prefers her lovers come to her home and witness the grandeur of her life.

  • 26-year-old female
  • 5'5", 132 pounds; 36-28-36; strong and fit, but not a petite little thing; a real woman.
  • Dirty blonde hair that is naturally sun lightened; slightly wavy, worn typically in a braid to the middle of her back.
  • As a natural woman, she rarely shaves and if she does, it because she thinks she's about to have sex.
  • Gray-blue eyes.
Personality:
  • Confident, intelligent, knowledgeable.
  • Loner; disappointed with the world, so she isolated herself in the wilderness.
Background:
  • Youth:
    • She was raised as a backwoods-kind-of-girl.
    • She learned to hunt, fish, forage, and build using the most basic of tools.
    • She helped maintain the family cabin (described below).
  • Education/Employment:
    • She is intelligent but didn't put much effort into school.
    • She was more interested in the outdoors.
    • She graduated in 1998.
    • She worked a variety of jobs but spent most of her time learning and participating in skills that could be used in living a primitive life in the forest.
  • Sex and relationships:

  • COVID-19 and how it affected her life:
    • She lost both parents and 5 of 6 siblings to COVID-19. (Only a younger sister, Katherine -- 19yo and going to school in Denver -- survived the pandemic.)
    • She sold or gave away everything she owned, except for her dogs.
    • She packed a backpack with needed supplies and left for the family cabin (described below).
  • Family cabin:
    • Located in the Silver Mountain Wilderness Area (SMWA), northwest of Durango, Colorado.
    • SMWA was carved out of the San Juan National Forest.
    • The cabin is surrounded by one of the last Old Growth forests in Colorado.
    • The cabin sits on 22 acres of forests, clear streams, and fish-filled ponds.
    • The private property was grandfathered into the Wilderness Area. So long as a blood member of the Daniels Family maintains the land, it remains private property.
Recently:
  • She's been living alone in the cabin since early 2020.
  • She hunts, fishes, and forages for food, medicinal ingredients, and more.
  • Three or four times a year, she makes the 24-mile round trip hike down to Durango for supplies, news, and her mail.
    • She sells tanned hides, stuffed animals made from furs she tanned, wood carvings, herb remedies, and more.
    • If she's feeling a bit randy, she visits one of the men -- or one of the women -- with whom she maintains rather unique personal relationships.
His activities in the RP:
  • TNTLWO, she had no idea that something had happened. She lives off the grid without any electricity.
  • The next morning, she descended the mountain toward Durango on a previous scheduled supply run.
    • She met Flynn.

(Note: The profile for the Gumbles, Henry and Eleanor, was originally supposed to be for both of them together, as HumanBean and I were going to share the writing of both of them. Since then, we have decided that I will write Eleanor and HB will write Henry. The profile below will eventually be edited to be just for Eleanor, but I don't have time to do it right now.)

Eleanor Gumble:
Descriptions:
  • They are both in their late 50s; exact age is irrelevant.

  • Four years earlier, Henry's parents had died in a house fire; four months earlier, Eleanor's parents had just weeks apart from various natural causes.
  • It is one part Saturday Market, one part yard sale, one part coffee shop and bakery, one part grocery, one part souvenir shop, one part beauty salon and barber shop, and ten parts anything else you can think of.
  • Henry is typically at the back door at 3am, seven days a week, for the earliest of deliveries (fresh foods: fruits, vegetables, berries, etc.) and other goods shipped from south of the border by Hector, who the couple has known since the first days of The Bazaar's opening.
  • The Bazaar's official hours were 5am-6pm, 7 days/week, but in actuality the couple would open the doors or keep them open anytime someone needed inside. They were just that way.
  • Henry more often than not be sound asleep within an hour of The Bazaar closing its doors, resting up for the next day.
  • Eleanor would lay down with her husband until he was asleep, then typically get up to continue working, sometimes until as late as 11pm.
  • They didn't operate The Bazaar alone, though:

      • Minimum wage, but Henry and Eleanor provided extra cash or goods when possible.

      • Same as above but only on weekends and/or holidays, duh.
Their activities in the RP:
  • Henry was preparing for the morning -- cooking food, taking deliveries -- when TLWO at 3:44am.
  • Almost immediately, some of their neighbors, friends, workers, and vendors came to protect The Bazaar.
  • Around sunrise, Hannah came to The Bazaar, beginning their interaction.
 
Nicholas "Nicky" Long:
Physical Description:
  • 36-year-old male
  • 6'2", 205 pounds, muscular
  • Blond hair, neat.
  • Full beard, trimmed neatly but long.
  • Green-hazel eyes.
  • Various tattoos (not yet described)
Personality:
  • Bold, confident, aggressive when it suits him
  • Intelligent, sharp. He doesn't react hastely but considers his actions first.
  • He is partial to teenage girls.
    • Don't worry, there won't be any underage roleplay/erotic writing.
    • He likes girls because they are easier to manipulate into doing bad things for which older, smarter women might not fall.
  • Criminally inclined.
    • He has been to prison (not yet described) but for charges not yet discussed.
    • When introduced, he had a bag that had some sort of connection to some no-good thing in which he was involved. It hasn't been described in detail but will be when it is posted.
Background:
  • As said but not described, he has been to jail at one point, in a cell smaller than 10x10 feet.
His activities in the RP:
  • TNTLWO, he was up to no-good (yet to be described).
    • He was driving someone else's car (owner not yet identified) that rolled slowly into the ditch.
    • He left an underage (16yo) girl passed out drunk in the front seat of the car.
    • He walked to the home of Samantha "Sammi" Evans.
    • He claimed to be a bartender working in Corvallis. Whether or not he actually is hasn't been discussed.
    • Sammi's father, Carl, invited him to stay the night in a tiny house on the property.

  • 5'10", 185 pounds, fit
  • Brunette hair, short and slightly curly.
  • Typically wears a couple of days growth on his face.
  • Deep hazel eyes.
Personality:
  • Confident, quiet.
  • Intelligent, well educated, smart.
  • Likes women. He's married, but he doesn't mind an eyeful of beautiful babe.
Background:
  • High school:
    • Lettered in football, basketball, and track & field.
    • Was very popular with the girls.
    • Graduated 2011.
  • College:
    • Associate's degree that he'd planned on using to transfer to a four-year school.
    • Graduated 2013.
  • US Navy:
    • Enlisted in the Nuclear Power Program.
    • After 2 years of training, he spent 4 years on a nuclear-powered destroyer.
    • Did not reenlist. Was discharged in 2019.
  • Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant:
    • Went to work there a couple of months after discharge from the Navy.
    • The year was 2020.
His activities in the RP:
  • TNTLWO, he was working the graveyard shift at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.
    • He and another worker, Lana Wilson, fled with dozens of other workers to the northwest to get away from a potential nuclear meltdown.
    • They reached a home where they found bicycles and continued northward.
    • They reached the Spooner Ranch House where they broke in to find more supplies.

Glenn Harrington:
Physical Description:
  • 50-year-old male (born 1974)
  • 5'9", 182 pounds, fit with a layer of wealth fat (he likes his wine, cheese, and artisan meats)
  • Brunette hair that is mostly various shades of gray, short and neatly cut.
  • Only shaves every couple of weeks.
  • Deep brown eyes.
Personality:
  • Confident, outgoing, ambitious.
  • Intelligent, well educated, smart.
  • Grew up in a wealthy family, then doubled his inheritance to become a multimillionaire.
  • Loves his wife but also likes young men. (See "Background" regarding his marriage.)
Background:
  • The Harrington Family and their business:
    • His great-grandfather, Conrad Harrington, planted one of San Diego's first vineyards in 1928.
    • His grandfather added a winery.
    • His father doubled the acreage and turned the business into a major success.
    • Glenn inherited the estate at 24, when his parents died in a car crash. He increased the value of it 10-fold in less than 15 years.
  • Education:
    • He lettered in swimming and track & field during high school. He graduated in 1992.
    • He double majored at UCSD in Viticulture (grape cultivation/wine making) and Business. Graduated in 1996.
    • Was working on his master's when his parents died. He quit to take over the business. 1998.
  • Marriage and Extramarital Activities:
    • Glenn met his wife, Roxie, in 2000 when she was a stripper at a very exclusive men's club.
    • He attended every one of her performances for a month, tipping her $500 each night for a private room lap dance.
    • He convinced her to quit stripping, got her an apartment and car, and six months after they met, they married.
    • He knew that she was more infatuated with his money than she was with him. He didn't care.
    • From the start, they had an open marriage:
      • Glenn liked/likes younger men, as did Roxie initially.

    • Began committing thefts and such as a teen.
    • Was occasionally accused but never charged.

  • 5'8", 202 pounds, fit and muscular; he is a social bodybuilder.
  • Dark blonde hair worn in an Army haircut.
  • Brown eyes.
Personality:
  • Confident, bold, calculating.
  • He's a bit of a gun nut and survivalist prepper.
  • He is a bit of a male chauvinist, believing that a woman's place is in the home, taking care of her husband and children.
  • He accepts that women can fill roles in the military as long as they aren't combat roles.
Background:
  • Youth:
    • Grew up poor in a rural area of Central Oregon.
    • He hunted, trapped, and fished for both recreation and survival.
    • His father was a misogynist, a white supremacist, and all-around asshole.
    • He grew up with some of his father's philosophy though not to the same degree.
  • Early employment:
    • After high school graduation, he worked in a plywood mill (2003-2006).
    • He became disillusioned with working so hard for people who didn't work hard at all, particularly when they made so much money, and he made so little.
  • Service:
    • Joined the Army as an infantryman (2006; he was 21.)
    • He left Active Duty to return home and be a father after knocking a woman up, transferring directly to the National Guard. (2012; he was 27.)
    • He's been assigned to OANGS-Springfield for 12 years.

    • His first several romantic encounters were with party girls who were usually drunk off their asses and later wanted nothing to do with him.
