WSJ: Trump Advisers Ramp Up Work on Mass Deportation Push

Article is paywalled. Here’s a synopsis of Executive orders under consideration for January pending budgetary and legal review:

- Revoke Biden policy directing ICE not to pursue immigrants in the country illegally who haven’t committed other crimes

- Declare a national emergency at the border in order to move money from the Pentagon to pay for wall construction and assist with immigrant detention and deportation

- Initial focus on an estimated 1.3 million immigrants in the country illegally who have received final orders of deportation from an immigration court, as well as those with other criminal convictions or charges.

- Use military bases for immigrant detention and military planes to help carry out deportations

- Revoke deportation protection status for hundreds of thousands of Haitians and Venezuelan in the US on a quasi-legal status called humanitarian parole

What is not mentioned is the whole hearted cooperation from the Mexican government. This will be obtained via the issuance, or threat of issuance, of a Presidential Finding declaring the Mexican cartels terrorist organizations. That is the last thing the Mexican government wants to happen and they'll bend over backwards to try to prevent the issuance or post issuance execution.

That could have some ugly reactions . . . .

Weak sauce. I want all 11 to 17 million illegal aliens deported ASAP. Trump can worry about the courts' reactions after it's done.
I can't wait. There are currently around 2 million people incarcerated in the US right now. This administration is going to expand government bigly to incarcerate 14 million more people and deport them. Right after they track them all down. Big government is my fav government.

I'm most looking forward to the internment camps, myself.

I saw an interview with an ICE agent on “60 Minutes”, and he estimated it would take a government agency with the personnel and budget of the DOD to make DonOld’s deportation dream come true.

Sounded about right to me. Maybe an underestimation.

😑

One of my best friends is from Mexico and he's explained that the real issue with mass illegals comes from the border leading into their country. All of South America comes running through there to make their way to the Mexico/US border and they do not have the money or manpower to close off their border.

If money and aid were given to Mexico to close it off down there-as in still let people through but only after a process-then it would fix most of the problems on this end.

Clinton in 1992 talked like he was going to end China's Most Favored Nation trading status (not ending trade with China, just the MFN status) because of the PRC's human-rights record.

But as president he found himself helpless to do that, because American business interests would not allow it. Trade with China was too profitable for them to in any way diminish it.

Trump will find himself helpless to deport on any large scale, for the same reason. Business interests depend too much on immigrant labor.

It’s about time they sent those filthy Italian and Irish Catholics back to their Pope loving shithole countries.
Believe it or not, in the 19th Century there was a widespread conspiracy theory in the U.S. about the Catholic Church. The idea was that the Pope was -- somehow -- causing the mass emigration of Catholics to the U.S.; and the goal was to subvert American democracy, and create a monarchy under a Catholic prince.

A lot of Americans believed all this. Samuel Morse, inventor of the electric telegraph, published a book about it.
