Turning down the radio as she slowed to a stop, Jordan St. Paul glared at the gas station and muttered under her breath. The people outside eyeing her car, some trying to see who was driving knowing they did not recognize the car ducked their heads to get a better look. Sighing loudly she opened the door and stepped out, putting on her sunglasses she ignored the stares of the people and grabbed her pocket book then headed towards the store. The clicking of her high-heeled boots echoed on the pavement, the black leather running up to her thighs. The hem of her red skirt stopped right above the boots covering only what didn't need to show, and baring the rest. She wore a matching red low cut tank top that tied around her neck, and a small black leather jacket. She looked good at the moment; her body still trimmed from dancing and working out. Her legs long to match her height of 5’11, she was well stacked and knew it.

She could careless what these small town people thought about her, she knew their thoughts and maybe they were right. She was not use to such a small town, yet she was here to visit a cousin. Rochelle and her grew up together, at the age of fourteen though Chellie moved away out of the city with her parents while Jodi was left in the city. They hadn’t seen each other in years except for what was in pictures sent through E-Mails. Every Sunday night though they spoke on the phone, and finally Jodi was able to take a vacation to come see Chellie.

Jordan had been having a difficult time back in the city; her boyfriend was an asshole so they had broke up, after he beat her around a bit. Her job was leaving her nerves on end, and she needed to get away from that. Not too mention she had a slight problem, she was pregnant…

Jodi had always been an out spoken wild child, going to the clubs, partying all night, and of course she was popular around the men. Her life just got too wild for her the minute she found out she was pregnant. She spent two months in the city trying to change things around and when she couldn’t get them going right she almost had a nervous break down. So vacation time came and she took it, and now she was stuck in this little town. Though it would be good to see Rochelle again, and they could just hang out and talk the nights away like they use to when they were younger.

Shaking her thoughts away Jodi pushed open the door to the gas station and glanced around. Grabbing a Sprite out of a cooler and then a bag of chips she walked to the counter. “I need about ten dollars in gas, and these.” She laid the soda and the chips on the counter and smiled at the young man. He looked younger then her age of 23, kind of cute but young. The young man nodded, and stuttered the amount then stared at her as she paid him. Grinning she winks at him then heads back to her car to pump the gas….

Thomas:

"And one last song before I leave you tonight... No, not Closing Time... How about a little Styx? Yeah, I knew you'd like that! Here's Styx - Babe!" Thomas said in smooth tones over the radio as he switched the audio over to the song. He got up as he let the song play, the new night DJ was on the way in, A greesy haired punk who thought only two styles of music existed, metal, and alternative... No apreciation for the classics... Thomas liked metal and alternative as much as anything, he just prided himself on not being stuck on one, or even two styles... He enjoyed nearly everthing that was tossed his way.

Jumping in his car, Thomas remembered that his next door neighbor, Rochelle, had asked if he would help her unpack her cousin's things, who was ariving today. Rochelle was one of the few in town that didn't treat him like a celebrity, and he really appreciated it. Come to think of it, she never had. The first time they met was when she came to his door, complaining about the tree on his property. The branches had grown to the point where they were hitting the side of her house with the slightest of breeze, the side that just so happened to be her room. The next day he sawed the branches off for her.

He pulled into his drive and looked over to see if she was home. Her car was there but no others. So he went into his house, got a bite to eat, washed up a little and tossed a small dash of cologne on, then went over to Rochelle's, knocking as he absently whistled the Styx tune he had played.

Rochelle:

"Not bad.... not bad at all." Rochelle stood gazing over the guest room that she had been working on all that day. It practically sparkled, and the light colors she had picked out complemented everything. Yeah, so she was a little bit of a perfectionist. She loved for things to be in order. Well at least at home, and she wanted everything to be perfect for her cousin.

As she stood there, she thought about Jodi.....who was finally coming to stay with her. A smile formed as she thought about their childhood. She had missed Jodi so much. Especially during her divorce. Now Jodi needed her.......Her brow wrinkled as she thought about her cousin's latest problem.....but then she shook it off. They would deal with that when the time came.

Hearing the knock, she took one last look at the room and decided that it was finished..... then headed down the steps to answer the door.

Alex studied the engine of the new Corvette that was just brought in. The owner said one minutte he had been driving the next there was an explosion and the car just stopped. Shaking his head Alex leaned in further checking the transmission. He was so occupied he didn't hear Ms. Freer approach. He did however feel her tap his shoulder startling him into standing up fast and hitting his head on the hood. Smothering a curse he stood up brushing off his hands. "Yes Ms. Freer how can I help you?" he asked smiling "I hate to be a bother but my Tv has gone on the fritz and you did so well before I thought you could help me" she smiled back. "Of course I can help you, I will be over later today if that is alright" She nodded "that will be fine thank you very much" and with one last smile in his direction she turned and left. Shaking his head chuckling softly Alex turned back to the car.

Jordan St. Paul

Jodi threw the cashier one more wink and headed out to her car, leaving the poor man jaw opened and staring after her. Adjusting her sun glasses, she steps carefully into her convertable and starts the engine.

Nothing.....

Turning the key again...

Nothing....

"Ok you piece of shit, we are not going to die right now. Turn damn you!" Turning the key again the engine starts up and she speeds out of the gas station. Shaking her head and vowing to get the car looked at she heads towards the town. Soon enough she will be in a tiny hell hole but at least she'll be with Rochelle after all these years. Chellie had always been like a sister to her, and she could not wait to see her.

Kurt Jones

Kurt locked the door to his little house and walked down to his old ford truck.
He hated to be out like this...but he had to get groceries or starve.
he got into his truck and turned the key, the old v8 engine roared into life, and he started to back out of his driveway.
Kurts house was in the outskirts of town, just the way he liked it. Not too many people around out there, which menat he was left alone. Only the postman came by once in a while.

As he entered town Kurt felt like everyone was watching him. He sighed and thought *they are all pointing fingers at me and saying look look there is Kurt Jones...the convicted fellon*
Yes kurt was quite sure that was what they all thought and did behind his back...and he hated it.

Looking in the back view mirror he noticed a fast on coming car.

"shit"

he muttered, that car is definately not from around here....and is going WAY too fast..

Kurt tried to squeeze his truck as far to the right as he could without leaving the road, and hoped that the car would just pass him.

Glancing up Jordan sees the truck in front of her and curses loudly, trying to stop, "Oh shit...."
She was going way too fast and knew it, if she didn't act now she would end up hitting the truck.

Turning the wheel she braces herself and screeches to a stop, sliding sideways facing any on coming traffic in the other lane. Luckly, no other cars seemed to be out at the moment, well other then the truck….
Squeezing her eyes shut, she lets off another loud string of curses and rubs her forehead. Shaking herself to make sure she is still alive, and unharmed she looks up to see the truck slowing, then turning to come back.

"Ok Jodi, either the person is coming back to see if your ok, or to beat the shit out of you for almost running him down.” sighing she frowned at the smoke rolling from under her hood. A slight flutter filled her stomach and she placed both hands over her abdomen, "Ok, calm yourself woman."

Taking a deep breath, she watched as the truck pulled to a stop in front of her off of the road. Opening the Mustang's door she slowly got out and eyed the man behind the wheel.

Kurt Jones

Kurts eyes widenend as he saw the car coming at him with ramming speed. It wouldn't be the first time he was in an accident...but judging from the speed of the car. THIS one could get really ugly.

Kurt cursed for himself, and braced himself for impact....which would probaly send him right through the windshield.

Kurt closed his eyes, as he could hear the screaming tires of the other car, muttering......

"I'm dead......"

Nothing happend...the truck drove on unharmed, no wreck, no pain, no nothing.
Kurt looked over his shoulder and back.

A new Ford Mustang was parked across the road, with smoke coming out from under the hood. Long skidmarks proved that the car indeed had been VERY close to hitting him.
Just for a minute Kurt thought about just driving on, but thought the better of it.

He didnt want to, but better had to check and see if they were alright.
He turned the Truck around and headed back to the car.

As he got close a tall woman stepped out of the car, clearly shaken, and with a nervous expression on her face...She was quite beautiful...clearly not from around here...but beautiful never the less.
Judging by her looks, Kurt would say big city.

Kurt stopped the Truck and got out of the it...only then realizing that he had not been wearing his seatbelt...and would have indeed been thrown through the windshield, had the Mustang hit him instead of stopping there.

He walked over to the woman...very careful not to come to close to her...keeping his 4 foot distance.

"Are you alright M'am??"

Alittle pale and shaken Jordan nodded slowly,"Yeah, I think...umm sorry about, well about almost hitting you. I guess, my mind was on other things..." Her voice trailed off for a moment as she clutched her stomach.

Blinking she looked back at him, he seemed just as nervous as she felt, "If, if you want to take down my name, and report me to the police I'll understand. I should have been more careful, and paying attention." Glancing over the skid marks she felt her stomach flutter again.

"Oh my god, I could have killed us!" The comment was directed more to herself and baby then to the man, though it was not obvious. Her pale blue eyes widen and she blinked tears back,"I'm sorry, I'm not from around here and, well....jesus christ!"
She leaned back agaisnt the car and tried to control her breathing....

Kurt Jones

"M'am....you sure you're alright??"

Kurt didnt really know what to do...there had been a time before Prison, when he would not have hesitated taking this woman in his arms and help her...but now.....

Kurt was just standing there, kinda stepping on his own toes...No he couldn't get involved...what if...no...

Clearly this woman was not feeling well, big city or not, she wasn't feeling well at all.

Reluctantly he took a step forward.

"M'am?? Please....M'am you okay......?"

Kurt extended his arm to her...still reluctantly.

"Please M'am...is there anything I...I ....I........"

For some reason he just couldn't get the words past his lip...damnit just say it fool, he thought to himself....His mouth opened and closed, but no sound came.

Instead he lay his hand on the womans shoulder.

Jordan jumped and looked over at him,"Yes I'm ok, just a little pregnant...errr, thank you." Shaking her head she frowned at herself.

She stood and forced a smile,"Do you need my name? For the police? If not I'm going to go now." She moved past him and lifted the hood of her car, the smoke was finally clearing. Everything seemed ok, then again she knew nothing about cars. She bent over and looked a bit closer, ignoring the fact that if he was looking, he was getting one hell of a eye-full.

Didn't matter, she had just blurted to him she was pregnant, didn't look like the type that would have any interest after hearing that anyways. "I think, my car is ok, though I'll probably have to get the tires and brakes looked at now." She lowered the hood and head back to the drivers door, she removed the top from the convertable and looked back at the man, waiting for him to say something. He looked a bit confused really, and it almost made her smile.

Kurt Jones

Kurt was real confused....he didnt really know what to say.

"uhm okay lady...as long as you're okay...."

Had she just said she was pregnant??

Kurt watched her check her car......it would be a miracle if the car started after the amount of smoke coming out of the hood....but he didnt say anything.
As she bend over the hood, Kurt caught a climpse of the form of her body...it had been years since he had been with a woman.....
he shook his head lightly...no, cant think like that...no Can't!

"M'am, you drive carefully now...."

Kurt could have smacked himself over the head big time just after saying it....knoowing how incredibvle stupid it must sound to this city lady.

Kurt was standing there, just making sure she could start and to watch her drive away safely.

"M'am, you drive carefully now...."

Jordan caught herself smiling and winked at him,"I think it's a bit late for that." She sat down in the driver's seat and turned the key, the engine only putted. Raising a eyebrow,"Damn thing does this all the time anyways, no clue if it's from the sudden stop or if it's just being a bitch right now."

Slightly blushing realizing the way she was talking she laughed nervously. A small town more then likely does not hear women with fowl mouths normally, she tried the key again. Still nothing, sighing she hit the dash board,"Come on....start."

After the fifth time she growled and hit the dash harder,"I swear you are such a fucking piece of shit car,now start God Damnit!"

Put, put put,,screech, then nothing, sighing she looked over at the man,"Umm, you wouldn't happen to be able to give me a ride?"

Taken a back a little by the way this lady talked.......

As predicted the Mustang didnt start.

hell, she asked if she could get a ride!!

Kurt almost took one step back...physically, as well as mentally....damn!!!

"errr uhm....errr....."

he couldn't hardly leave a pregnant woman out here. He sighed.

"Yes M'am, I can give you a ride."

Realizing he must have looked like defeated...he quickly shot her a small smile.

he walked the woman over to the passanger side of his truck, and let her in, then He went back to the Mustang, shifting it into neutral, and pushed it to the side of the road and put on the soft roof back on it.

Getting into the truck, he glanced nervously at the woman and started his truck.

"Where can I drop you off M'am??"

Grabbing her suit cases she threw them in the back of his truck and got in as he opened the door for her. The poor guy, looked lost almost, she looked him over curiously, wondering what the story was with him. She told him the directions to her cousin's house and smiled slightly. He didn't talk much it seemed, maybe he didn't like her. Hell he probably thought she was city trash, oh well, at least he would give her ride to Rochelle's.
She settled back for a hopefully uneventful ride....

Alex was helping Ms. Freer with her Tv when he happened to glance out the living room window. Accross the street lived Rochelle. She was a nice woman, Alex enjoyed her company and often helped her out. A truck was coming down the street and he recognized it in an instant. It was Kurt's he was sure. Kurt lived on the outskirts of town almost like a recluse. He never came out unless it was to buy groceries or some other necessity. Alex frowned slightly when he pulled into Rochelle's driveway. The truck sat there a moment when the passenger door opened and a woman stepped out. Alex couldn't get a good view of her but he knew she wasn't from around here. For a moment he watched at she headed to the door. They he jsut shrugged, it was none of his business. Turning around he went back to his work.

Thomas:

Hearing the soft foot falls of Rochelle coming down the upstairs stairway, thomas gave himself a quick check over and smiled as he waited for her to open the door.

Rochelle:

Quickly checking her reflection in the hall mirror, and deciding that she looked alright, she turned the knob and opened the door. A smile lit up her whole face. Her eyes locked with his...so caught up with the sight of him, that she didn't notice her cousin pulling up.

"I see you made it." Was that her voice she wondered.... it sounded so breathless. A blush tinged her cheeks red.

Thomas:

Flashing a smile back to Rochelle just as the truck pulled up Thomas craned his head to see who it was. He didn't recognize the guy, but was sure the girl with him must be Rochelle's cousin. "Hello Rochelle." He said as he turned his eyes back upon her. "Looks like I came over right on time." He said with a small chuckle. Leaning in closer to her, he asked. "Do you know that guy she's with?" For all he knew her cousin was supposed to be coming up alone.

Rochelle:

Raising her perfectly arched eyebrow, she leaned over Thomas's shoulder and gazed into the windshield of the truck.

"Hmm... I can't tell... too much of a glare." She remembered that Jodi was supposed to bring her own car. Her brow wrinkled. "I just hope nothing awful happened."

She turned back to him and winked. "Shall we investigate?"

Thomas:

Smirking slightly at Rochelle's wink, thomas looked back at the truck. "Looks like maybe the mystery's coming to us..." He said humorously. "Maybe her car broke down..." He thought aloud as he stood shoulder to shoulder with Rochelle, up on her porch.

Rochelle:

Her body just seemed to lean towards his...instinctively she knew that she would more than likely need his support in a few minutes. She thought she recognized that truck.... and now she knew she did.

She had heard the stories...and had always been sure that there was some myth to them. Still should couldn't help but feel a little intrigued, she had never met anyone who had been in prison before.........

Kurt Jones

All the way into town, Kurt had been really concentrated on looking at the road, as not to look at the city girl.

he knew the place she was going, he knew Rochelle by reputation. BUt that was all.

"How did he get mixed up in this??" He thought to himself. He didnt need this kind of exposure. well damn, he couldn't hide forever, he knew that. BUt he sure as hell was gonna try.

Pulling up in front of Rochelles house, Kurt noticed that DJ dudes car there....Oh no,now the whole town is gonna talk about him, more than they all ready did.
He could feel their eyes peek out from under the blinds, a feeling almost physically piercing his flesh.

Kurt remained in the car, he didnt want to get out...no not at all. With a little luck he could just speed away the moment the city girl had left his truck.

Of course mr Rock DJ and a girl that obviously must be Rochelle came and greeted them.......standing in front of the truck, cutting off Kurts Escape route.

Thomas:

"Hey there. Im Thomas, from next door, Rochelle asked me to come over and help you two with your luggage..." Thomas began to scratch the back of his neck. "Uh, did something happen to your car?" He asked, a little concerned as he looked back over his shoulder to catch Rochelle's eyes.

Rochelle

Her eyes met Thomas's and she smiled. Brushing past him, she went to her cousin and pulled her into a hug. It had been so long...and she didn't care how she had gotten here...the main thing was that she had gotten there.
