Something to think about today

The past is what made you what you are in the present though. Every experience, whether good or bad helps make us into what we are today.

So don't live in the past or dwell on the past, but rather embrace it and try to learn from it and grow from it. Without those experiences you wouldn't be who you are or have the understanding you do today.

almost everything gets misconstrude, almost all of it gets taken personally; even when there is nothing personal to any one person when the person writing is venting.

and then there's the someone who sits in judgement of the one writing. why? what gives them the right to judge another? has anyone truly walked a mile in the shoes of another person?

no... not literally; but only by virtue of possibly having dealt with very similar circumstances.

the computer is a very poor medium when it comes to knowing exactly what the writer's tone of voice is when they're writing. the only thing you have to base an assumption on... is that person's written word.

not only does 'assuming' make an ass out of the person doing it ... an assumption is something that is made... when another does not have all the facts present.

Not everything gets misconstrued. It just seems that way by the few who look for opportunities to attack others. On Lit in particular, emotions seem to run fairly raw, people mostly reading the worst and rarely the best into posts they do not understand. I think we are all guilty of that from time to time. Some more often than others.

But I also think this highlights something of value. An opportunity to find diamonds in the rough if we step back and look at things. For it is those that do not judge, that offer comfort or guidance or advice or merely support that can suddenly become wonderful friends in the making. Friends who begin earning trust that give us the safe haven we sometimes need to vent.

Very well said.

I try hard not to let my past experiences dictate my reactions to present day situations. But rather to use the experience as a tool, to learn, to move forward. Always looking forward... With a smile. :)

Wow! I have been called many things. But NEVER a philosopher. Much less by one of the smartest and most learned women I know.

Thank you my dear

"try" is the key word for me. I seem to usually know exactly what I should do. Actually doing some of those things is harder than it seems at times.

Perhaps THAT is something worth thinking about for all of us ;)

Hmmmmm Not sure what you are trying to say here.

And while I do not generally think of Bugs Bunny as giving manicures, Bugs was always cool!

First of all...

I'd like to wish you a very Merry Christmas my friend... and secondly to say... I'm so very glad we are friends. I have found, moreover here than elsewhere, with the on-line friends that one makes here... are 'seen' on a more regular basis then some of us do our off-line friends in real life.

And how many of us have on-line friends that have left the screen and entered into our off-line life? I have quite a few that I speak to - on a regular basis... and as we spend time talking... I am even more surprised to find just how much more we have in common - aside from Lit.

But... I am very blessed with the friends I have made from Lit. And even though I lost one of them this year... I still wish him well... and hope that his future will be a bright and happy one... whatever it holds in store.

I am glad I know you dcraz... and even happier to be able to count you among the special friends I do have.

May Santa bring you everything on your list... and may every wish on your wish list be granted. May tomorrow find you among your loved ones... and may your day be filled with happiness, joy and laughter... and love.

Thank you for your early gift... the gift of your friendship.

Sincerely,
Torie :rose:

~ Stay in better touch with your friends. Let them know you think of them.

~ Drop a note - just to say a friendly "Hi! How are you doing?"

~ There is so much I want to say... but... out of respect to the host of this thread... I won't.

~ Suffice it to say that I am not very happy; and leave it at that. I will consider the feelings of the host, and his only.
