There are many options available, some better than others. As many of you know I have breakfast on Fridays with a group that includes several highly placed Federal agents. People that have to live with the Federal laws as written. As most are aware president Trump has stated that he'll use the US military to stop the caravan. The problem is how to do that LEGALLY?

Short of a declaration of martial law US troops cannot be used within the borders of the US for any law enforcement purposes. If Trump were to do either he would be leaving himself open to impeachment proceedings.

He could station the troops on the Mexican side of the border but that gets into the invasion of a foreign sovereign nation. That's another ball of wax.

SO

Here's one of the proposed plans. A joint military exercise between Mexico and the US in Mexico. The exercise would take place in Mexico so the US military would be 'in country' legally and with the full sanction of the Mexican government. Military exercise zones are 'no go' zones. In effect martial law has been declared for that limited area.

Whether your for it or against it doesn't matter to me at all. But it is an interesting work around.

Why use the Army anyway? Can't ICE handle them? If not, the National Guard can.

I would expect Mexico to throw about as much support to that idea as as they have for paying for Trump's wall.

how the fuck do you get so many of your "predictions" wrong, then? :D

Just a thought

There's all sorts of rumors as to why so many are making the dangerous trek.

As a thought, why doesn't Trump put his money where his mouth is? That is, contract with the Mexican Federales and provide logistic, material and financial support to return to their homes? However, Trump is using the caravan for his political goals

Lastly, American forces (Navy, Marines, etc.) have been used to aid foreign countries in the time of natural disasters. The caveat is that the foreign country requested US assistance

Considering that we're busily building the natural gas pipelines that are going to fuel their economy why do you think they might not consider the notion?

lol so this ^ will be the excuse as to why the wall won't get built. the wall that is already being built, mind you.

I'm going to go with the fact that we are building the pipeline as a conduit for something we want to sell them. Remind me who is the fourth largest exporter of oil in the western hemisphere. Did you say Mexico? I wonder if they use any of that revenue to "fuel their economy".

"Fourth largest" sounds impressive until you look at the numbers.

Fact. US natural gas is a hell of a lot cheaper than Mexican oil and it requires no refining. Now, if you're running a business what ya going to buy?

Trump stating that he'll use the military to stop the caravan is a declaration of martial law, no "in effect" about it.

Are we all just going to tastefully ignore Belli's walk-of-shame breakfast that comes right after party night? Really? All of us?

No one is going to speculate that she's fucking the FBI?

This responsibility falls to me?

It's what, 7 000 people? That 1/8th of Dodger Stadium, or an average weekly Target customer count.

304 000 peeps were apprehended along the Mexican border in 2017. This barely moves the needle. Border patrol can't handle that? With weeks of advance warning?

Don't give her numbers. She gets real confused real fast.

I know about the Posse Comitatus Act, which was a bad idea, but does not apply to the NG.

The National Guard is the Army.( or Air Force) It also has nothing to do with the second amendment by the way

Exactly. Right now the "Caravan" has 2000-3000 people in it. Enough to fill a high school football stadium, yet Fox Noise would have you believe it is enough to fill 5 Rose Bowl's

Lies they are ISIS, etc. from the White House don't help. Trumps base are SCARED. Terrified. AND Stupid.

Might be as low as two to three thousand. Plus A ton of onlookers and the Media.

I don't know, Liar.
I don't blame those who joined the caravan, I certainly would have done the same in their place.
I'm focusing only on those who organized the caravan.

For me there's no way you can compare the previous caravans that tried to smuggle people in through the back door, and these organizers' upfront defiant attitude.

If you were old enough then, their mood is similar to those who tore down the Berlin wall.

Only if they're called to federal service. The NG can be called up at the State level for police duties and Posse Comitatus does NOT apply in that case.
