The Economy

a strong point in the economy seems to be weakening.

The winner of the AI race will develop a chip using less energy. Speaking of energy, China has invested well while the US is turning off energy sources, or at least some want to, ie solar and wind. Plus the US grid needs a major overhaul.

And money remains expensive.

Sooner or later financial data will need to be released. Hopefully fact oriented and not sanitized.

The White House statement on Thanksgiving meals from Walmart is hilarious, especially with community notes added

Btw - turkey prices alone are up 75% from last year. Interestingly enough, they removed the original tweet.

Walmart's tgiving meal is down because they reduced the number and quality of items significantly.

Usually I pay no attention to economic surveys but there’s still no government economic data so here we are.

Consumer sentiment drops to 3-year low

Overall sentiment dropped to 50.3, about a 6% decline from October, according to the University of Michigan’s preliminary survey of consumers. The pullback was led by respondents’ worsening outlook for their own current personal finances and expectations for year-ahead business conditions, leaving the index of consumer sentiment down nearly 30% from a year ago and the lowest since 2022.

Private data, meanwhile, supports some of the bad vibes about the job market: A report Thursday from Challenger, Gray & Christmas said last month was the worst October for layoff announcements in more than 20 years. Job growth also appears to be muted, and postings are lower as the unemployed struggle to find available work.

I can' t think of a more deserving group than the .01% to 1% to benefit while the poor and elderly pay for their gains and tax avoidance. Winning! For the uber wealthy. The New York Times has a great expose on how the rules are being written to help out those unfortunate, wealthy souls while the less to do suffer from food insecurity and soon yuge increases in health insurance. Can it be any more blatant? Transparent graft.

Taxes are supposed to be the domain of congress. But the speaker has decided to keep the house out of session. AWOL and they still get paid.

Here are two other articles that also give a great overview.

The stock market, which can manipulate, is the only truthful thing here from this 🤡.

It’s remarkable that anyone can read Donnie’s bullshit tweets without laughing.

Remember, a month ago the US added $1 trillion to the national debt at the fastest pace ever. For those who are keeping score at home, that is the polar opposite of pAYinG DoWn our enormous debt. 😆

And Donnie may pay everyone $2000 as a bribe before the next election, but it will be funded by more national debt.

With trump its always opposite day. Whatever he says and tells you to believe, it is just the opposite. And the cult followers swallow it all.

you have to look at what thread you are on with some of the posts about trump's quips, you think you are on the dementia thread with his irrational and outright lies. geezus
