The Let's Help Each other Get Healthier Thread!!!

Hi All -

I decided I could use some accountability in my weight loss campaign. So, I put a ticker in my sig, and thought I'd post in this thread. I'm using myfooddiary.com to track calories and nutrition, exercise and to track my progress. At the moment I'm not really exercising, due to problems with my knees and lower back. But, I'm also seeing a couple of orthopedic surgeons to deal with those issues. I have a long way to go, but I feel really proud of the weight I've lost so far! Hopefully I'll be able to help cheer you folks on to reach your goals as well.

Hi fishercat,
Welcome to the legion of the damned! (jk)....sorry to hear about your exercise problems, I too have physical hurdles that need to be got around and one of the things I have done was to get a set of small hand barbells. There are simply loads of light exerecises you can do with them, they have helped me a lot.
Congrats on the weight that you have lost! All those little steps add up down the line.

im jumping back on board also. the new semester started which means a new dance class and i lost so much flexibility from not doing anything over the break.

my plan, high reaching as it is at the moment, is to go to the gym five times a week, if only to go on the treadmill sometimes but hopefully more, as well as my dance class which will be twice a week. im in process of developing two different gym ruitines, one for M/W/F, and one for T/Th. i dont know if im going to be able to maintain this goal since it is reaching high, but im going to try.

as far as eating goes, im giviing myself till the end of my birthday weekend to eat junk food, since i have so much of it around right now. starting monday im going to try to get back to eating healthy.

Thanks for the welcome! I actually have a set of small barbells that are a bit heavy right now (I am such a wimp!) I'm going to get a smaller set and start with those.

You mentioned that you couldn't resist weighing yourself before you had planned to, and got a nasty shock. I've had that happen to me. My solution is to not have a scale in the house. I actually go to my doctor's office once a month to get weighed. Any of the nurses or office staff can do it, and I'm not charged. I don't know that it would work for you, though you could arrange to weigh in at a friend's house or something.

Keep at it, and thanks for welcoming in another toiler in the fields of the chubby. ;)

WooHoo! Lost 4 pounds in January, and 2 1/2 inches total. It does seem like the weight loss is slowing down, but I kind of expected that. I think I'm retaining some extra water right now too. Still, I'm happy with my progress thus far. Having that ticker on all my posts really keeps me honest. :)

I haven't lost much more weight, but I tried on a pair of shorts a couple of weeks ago and they fitted :D They fasten with velcro and they used to pop undone, now they stay stuck YAY!

I'm working on strengthening and toning my arms and back and tummy right now - my trainer is good she is really pushing me and I'm getting stronger :)

as expected, i was pushing myself a bit hard to go five times a week. i was always exhausted and didnt seem to have time int he day. now i go 3-4 times a week, while dancig twice a week, which is much more managable.

I usually go to the gym every weekday, and weekends when I feel like it. But I haven’t gone in about 2 months for various reasons. Monday night I tried to stand up and everything disappeared and I felt as though I was falling trough the floor. A short while later I could see again and realized I was on the floor. Withdrawal and a cold can really screw me over. Today I have about 4 hours reserved for the gym, but somehow the friends always know and now I’m debating whether to go work out the heart, or to go socialize with a very special unique crowed.

Sigh, they say your mental state is about 50% of your heath, but I have been neglecting the other half, yet I can always schedule something for it, not so with socializing.

Eh, I suppose I'll just go with he flow and see what happens.

The day worked out after all. Once classes where of I managed to catch most of the Tet festival I was invited too. Then I got in a 1 ½ hour work out, at that point I crashed, spent all my energy. However, I had no problem whatsoever with the cardio, all seems to be in working order. Tomorrow the guys are meeting up for some fighting, I think I’m up for it.

thats great. dont overdo it and hurt yourself (coming from me that is almost luaghable)

Just here to report on the monthly results. Kind of an accountability thing. Lost four pounds and two inches in February. Not bad at all. I'm still not exercising, but have committed to starting once I get under 200. That gives me some time to get my knees checked out by a doctor. My motivation is still pretty good, but I'm running out of clothes that fit, so I'm running around in baggy-ass pants. Oh well. I did buy a new pair of jeans that are two sizes smaller than what I was wearing in October. That made me feel good.

I hope all of you out there on diets or exercise plans are still working at it. Wishing you patience and willpower!

:)
