The stirrings of fear threatened to close off her airway as she gazed at the balcony to his room. Deanna had served in the castle most of her life, tending to the cleaning and washing. She had been wished away by her mother just shortly after her birth, something that still caused her pain. The goblins took her in and cared for her, showing her a way of life that most mortals had never seen. Her parents taught her the meaning of hard work and hard play. All and all, she had no regrets about her life except for when it came to him.

Jareth, the Goblin King, was a mystery to alot of attendants. Deanna had heard whispers of his dalliances with some of the fae women at court. A majority of these rumors could make even the most seasoned whore blush to the tips of her toes. As she grew, Deanna didn’t run short of men leering her way but that mattered very little to her. He was the only male that ever caught her attention. His song haunted her, his beauty and magic fascinated her. Jareth’s voice always sounded so sad and lonely.

The Labyrinth runner, Sarah, had rejected him in lieu of returning to her home Aboveground. That was about 75 years ago now. The girl had been long dead but her monarch’s sadness never abated. Deanna would spy him on the balcony during the day, those dual colored eyes so melancholy. She wanted to shake him, that the girl wasn’t worth his time.

Jealousy always burned deep in her gut at the thought of his love for the girl. Jareth was such a unique individual and she longed to find a way into his heart. That is what brought her to his balcony tonight. The feelings that had taken root in her heart were begging to be set free. Even if he never saw her as anything but another pitiful female admirer, she had to sing for him just once. The song was one of her own making, a lovely melody. She stood in the cover of darkness, too shy to do this out in the open. HIs visage in the shadow was unmistakable.

'To be with you
I would risk a thousand lifetimes
To be with you
There's no mountain that I wouldn't climb
If you're the sky
Let me be the cloud that runs right through you now
You don't know just how I need to

Be with you there can be no substitute
To be with you
I've tried to hide my passion but it's
Just no use
Piece by piece I lose it when you
Walk in the room
How can I get through
If I can't be with you?

Every time I close my eyes see your face
I taste you on my lips
Every night I fantasize
That I can feel you on my fingertips

To be with you
There's nothing that I wouldn't do
I'm powerless, swept under by your sweet cares
I'm fadin' fast
One look at you and I forget just who I am
I come unglued if I can't be with you

Every time I close my eyes I can see your face
I taste you on my lips
Every night I fantasize
That I can feel you on my fingertips

To be with you
I would risk a thousand lifetimes
There's no mountain I wouldn't climb
To be with you
Every time I close my eyes'

She could almost smell the scent of his magic on the cool evening breeze. Deanna let a single tear slide down her cheek. Her hand reached for the small notch in the wall that opened a secret passageway to the servants’ quarters
