So occasionally the idea of humanity’s minds being uploaded into a network and living out a virtual life is floated around.

I think it could be fun to explore the implications of that, especially with how sex would work.

So less an idea more just barinstorming

For example:

Due to policies created when the virtual world was created, sex cannot be discussed or seen by anyone under 18. How this is done in world is that there is an automatic filter: the topic or sex acts literally don’t appear or can be heard to anyone under 18 and anyone engaging in them cannot see anyone under 18.

So on our character’s 18th birthday the filter is lifted and suddenly they can see millions of people having sex, talking about sex etc.

They go to a park and find wild orgies breaking out. They’ve had their vision restored and it’s all millions of people fucking.

2. Glitches and hacking. A lot of people don’t know the world is virtual or they actively try to forget it. There are some administrators who actively look over the code but most people let the AI running the system handle things.

However, some people discover glitches or find ways to hack the system. Smaller things Could be things like enlarging parts of the body or body modification, but more skilled hackers could carve out niches that violate the rules entirely (zero-g rooms, customized sex dungeons, multiple copies of anyone who enters, etc.)

3. AI vs human. Even though everyone is a digital version of themself, people still want a distinction between humanity and AI NPCs. Maybe AI characters are forced to have certain models or features (like no faces or glowing eyes.

You could have stories about AI characters gaining full sentience or…what if humans find ways to fake being AI and go to clubs so they can be used like AI?

We go to the virtual world for one of two things. Escapism, or safety.

Escapism is the same reason we read books, play board or computer games. We want to leave our reality behind for a moment. Sometimes it is minor, sinply following a different character in our world. Sometimes it is lasers, dragons and magic spaceships.

Safety is for taking the least risk. Going outside is full of risks. You could get hit by a random accident, or there is a true danger, like an irradiated wasteland after the apocalypse. Whatever the reason, you're safe in VR.

That means people will make worlds based on different rules. You want to smash a dragon, walk up to your crush and say hi, or pleasure yourself for having both a cock and a pussy in convenient places. You can do dangerous things, like playing around with chainsaws and flamethrowers to make it more exciting. You can have your first time without anyone else able to critique your form or fetish.

I would like a story about someone who hates the technology, because you lose reality. At the same time they are incredibly interested in the possibilities. They will feel embarrassment as they start it up, carefully traversing this new world, drawn to something you can only get in VR. Zero G sex, or never worrying about STD or pregnancy. They peek at some 'open lobbies', where they can anonymously watch others. Eventually they take the plunge, anonymously in a different body, they meet up with someone who has a ton of experience, and about to show them a whole new world.
