Ammo is expensive. If it takes you 2 or more shots to bring home dinner it's cheaper to drive to the store and buy it.

This is more noticeable in a light weapon firing a large cartridge. Think: Glock 21 firing the .45 ACP.

It's only really noticeable while wearing or after you're done shooting. A fully loaded sidearm is heavy and an empty one isn't. During the melee weight isn't an issue because weight doesn't matter to the sight picture and that is best honed through practice, both live and dry.
