I was among the youngest to "come of age" in the 80s. It is true that "rock" took a weird turn with its addiction to hairspray, but other genres really went into new and interesting places.

Edit: all time favorite song is not from the 80s: Walk on the Wild Side.

I remember buying the 45 to Van Halen Jump. I loved this song. It was definitely my jam and kept me a Van Halen fan a long time. I even played House of Pain (B side) quite a few times but it didn’t have near the cool vibe and playability as the hit song.
