Hi all,

I usually post Noncon, Incest and Mind Control stories; it's pretty easy to categorize them.

However, I have a couple of new stories that I need help categorizing.

A: Older man and younger girl meetup, go to a bar, meet another group of strangers. They all go to a BDSM bar where the girl pulls out a Tarot, flips cards for each person and gives them a custom drug to match. The members of the group then have experiences based on the cards they got, including BDSM and noncon gay sex, some group stuff. Always anal. So, magic, mind control, bdsm, other?

B: Young man summons succubus who mainly convinces other girls to fuck him. The succubus spends most of her time in human form. Targets include the young man's family members but it's mainly members of his college community. Is this where I post in NonHuman or SF/F? Or is it all just Mind Control?

Thanks in advance.

No idea on the first one, too many juggling balls in the air.

Most succubus stories show up in Sci-Fi or Non Human, with plenty exceptions.

It's often useful to consider the Main focal point of the tale for category purposes.

A could be Anal, but drugs = loss of agency, so Mind Control.

B, being succubus, sounds like Non Human.

Write the stories first though, then decide on category. You're doing this in the wrong order.

I would put A in Mind Control, since otherwise there is no prevailing “kink” category you could pidgeonhole the plot in.

B seems like SF&F, since NH is mainly about non-human erotic experiences and you say the succubus mostly looks are an ordinary person. Depending on the amount of incest involved, Laurel may ultimately decide to place it in I/T, though.

Write the stories first though, then decide on category. You're doing this in the wrong order.
I don’t see anything in OP’s post that would indicate the two stories hasn’t been written already.

I think B will get a better reception in MC than the alternatives. It doesn't seem to be focusing on sex with the succubus, or with her demonic features, so Nonhuman is probably an ill fit. It doesn't seem like it's exploring the ramifications of a world with active supernatural beings, and world-building itself is kind of a kink for SF/F readers, so they might consider it too 'thin' if the fantastical elements are just there to provide an excuse for otherwise improbable sex.

I think A might fit best in Fetish since it has so many competing elements. I suppose MC and NC/R might also make sense; MC if the tarot is driving their escapades, NC/R if its actually the drugs making them do things (or making them compliant with things being done to them). It doesn't sound focused enough to belong in Anal or BDSM, and in the latter category you might well provoke outraged or horrified responses from real-life practitioners who would find the non-consent elements repugnant (in the event that you care about audience response, of course).

A - anal seems to be the focus here.
B - since the succubes spends the story getting others to fuck him, it's definitely a mind control story.

Without going into specifics, this is one you might want to bookmark, Tx Tall Tale's classic Love Your Readers - Categories. Excellent guide, IMHO.
Thanks. I read a similar guide (like, over and over) but this one is better.

Bisexual male stuff does certainly seem to be a kicking boy. I've got a few bi guy stories and I've gone from small labels and warnings to BIG labels and warning. Story A does involve one straight man making another straight man his bitch complete with penetration (honestly, it was in the cards), so gay male, noncon and mind control are all in the mix. Since there definitely is a supernatural override, based on what I've heard in this thread, I'll probably go with mind control and see what happens.

From this guide, the first chapter of story B, which includes heavy incest, should go in incest. And then categorize the non-incense chapters into mind control. This story keeps writing itself - the succubus really came to life for me - so I'm uncertain on number of chapters.

All of my stories include anal sex (we all have our thing), but it's never the main focus, more of a staple, so probably not anal. Maybe I'll write a story that only involves assholes, the body part, not the people (though maybe both; hah, that sounds fun).

Thanks everybody for your input. I have much more clarity now. :)

A- Has to be MC if they're going to be under the influence of some type of drug and you mentioned NC sex.

B-If family is involved, then the erotic horror and sex with friends is still trumped by incest. If family is involved it has to be there. I/T crowd will deal with some other sex providing there is incest as well, but other categories will flip at any incest.
