We Had The Same Thoughts
My wife and I were talking today over coffee, somewhat breathing a sigh of relief that it finally appears that, after his final debate failure, the dark cloud of Trump will one day fade away. Our discussion turned to musings similar to what SR71 said about education. Clearly, those of us who are blessed with a different life need to begin to work toward bridging the now obvious chasm that divides this nation. The "alt-right" did not spring up from barren ground. Too many people have been left behind in too many places...poor education, poor employment options, poor medical care, etc. It is a shame that we have all become so polarized because it only makes it that much harder to find a solution to these problems.
I personally will be writing many letters to my Congressional delegation and President Clinton urging them to strive for new ways to bridge this gap among the brothers/sisters of this nation. I hope many of us on both sides might think hard about our common future, and the future we pass on to our children, and then also join into a respectful effort to move forward in peace and prosperity for the many instead of the few. Surely, if we put down our war clubs and sit and talk it would be better than all this anger???
I stand for stability and steady progressive movement for the U.S. government and society. From the beginning, and because I don't have to "like" the one in the office as long as they are functioning as well as others will let them, it's been pretty clear to me who could best maintain those goals--and who would be the biggest disasters (and, no, I didn't consider Trump the worst disaster--just close to that).
If the system allowed it, I'd prefer Obama stayed around for four more years--but that he take a bigger hammer to the Congress if it remained in Republican hands.
Either way, I think we're going to have to double back on the education system, and put a whole bunch of deplorables through school again to learn what it means to be a responsible citizen and a human being.
