Whispers and Promises (restarted)

Rath smiled back at her. "I love you too. The day can't come soon enough when I no longer have to hide that from everyone else." He held her close, kissing her softly until the cooling temperature of the water meant that they had to get out and dry off. Even as they did so, he couldn't stop himself from touching her. Even in the short time they had been apart he missed her. He missed her warmth, the knowledge that she was there and would be the first thing he'd see in the morning. He had Kyra wrapped up in his arms with her back to his chest and turned her to face the two of them in a mirror. "Do you see how beautiful you are in the moonlight? You were the one in my vision, there's no doubt about it."

Many men had called her beautiful in her lifetime. Rath was the only one that made her believe those words as he held her tightly in his arms, forcing them both to look into the mirror. She smiled at him, her head leaning back comfortably against his chest.

"Only until someone else comes along who better fits that image." She said, teasing him as she felt his arms hold her a little tighter. "But I hope that day never comes, Rath."

"Oh? You think that there are other dream-women out there?" Rath teased in return. "And how many princes willing to overthrow pretenders do you think there are in the world? Much less any as handsome as me."

They laid in bed as Rath draped a silk sheet over them. "In light of the last few days, I'm contemplating bringing you in confidence with our spymaster. His loyalty is absolute so there are no worries there, but it's your decision."

Kyra laughed as he guided them towards the bed, sighing as the silk sheet settled over their bodies. It had been a long few days apart and she drank in the attention that Rath gave her. She was like a rare flower, opening up to her lover as he showered her with affection. She watched him in the dying light of the day, listening to him as he offered to bring her into the circle of his spymaster.

"Rath, you don't have to make me that offer." She said softly, reaching out to touch his cheek. "I trust that you'll keep me safe. I trust that you are doing what is best for me and our future together."

Rath placed his hand over her own. "And I am grateful for that trust. I just thought you might appreciate knowing that you have another ally in the court. He has been working hard to gain more information for us. And I think he may be on to something." He didn't want to tell her yet that one of her brothers may still live. Not until he had more information to give her.

"It hasn't always been easy here, Rath, but when I'm with you I can forget all of that." She said softly as she pressed her lips gently against his own for a moment. "And now that I know we have a beautiful future ahead of us, I know that I'm in the right place. I wish that things would have happened differently but I can't argue with the outcome."

Rath kissed her again. "Just don't think you have to wait in the palace for things to get done." He held her close against him as his lips softly brushed her neck. "I don't do all of this because I have to. I've told you before, I do it because I want to. Because I want you."

Kyra grinned as he said that he wanted her. She loved this man with all of her heart and soul. Those very words warmed her to the tips of her toes as he held her tightly and brushed a kiss against her throat. She had missed him greatly and she couldn't imagine being away from him ever again. She would fight for him, no matter what.

"Anything you want to make this plan succeed, just ask for it." He kissed her again as his hands roamed her body. "Anything you want from me... ask for it." There was a suggestion in that last statement and as if to punctuate it he pulled her body flush against his. A fingertip traced up her spine as he tasted the soft skin of her neck.

Kyra let out a groan as he kissed her again, his hand roaming over the soft skin of her body. He could set her on fire, she thought to herself as he pulled her firmly against his body and traced his fingers up her spine. She blushed at the thought of just what he could do and when she let out a soft laugh as he kissed and suckled on her throat.

"Perhaps I should ask what I might do for you, my prince." Kyra teased, knowing very well what he wanted right then.

"I want to hear you cry out my name," he teased. He reached to her clit and rubbed slow circles around it as his lips became more insistent. "And I think I know exactly how to make that happen." His teeth softly nipped her skin and dragged down until he reached her breasts. He took a nipple into his mouth and rolled it with his tongue against his teeth.

Krya gasped as he teased her, his fingers finding their way to her clit. Her brow furrowed at the pleasure that he was drawing out, his fingers rubbing her in sure motions. His teeth were soon following his finger's lead, nipping and biting down her skin. As he applied gentle pressure with his teeth and she let out a whimper. Then he captured her hard nipple, doing the same to the needy little bud.

"Rath..." She gasped, her fingers moving to grip his shoulders as she squirmed beneath him.

Rath's cock began to stiffen again and he slowly climbed on top of his lover. His hand moved away and he rubbed the shaft up and down her slit as he continued to taste her nipples. Her moans and whimpers echoed in his ears like music. He loved her. Seeing her happy made his heart sing. Having to be apart from her and in the presence of those pretenders only reminded him why she deserved better. If not for them, her father would still be king and she would have come to him willingly rather than being presented to him in the guise of a whore.

Kyra was in heaven. She was sure that this was all just a dream and when she opened her eyes she would be back in her own personal hell. How had she ended up with a wonderful prince like Rath? How had her life taken such an amazing turn for the better?

The feel of Rath's stiff cock rubbing against her slit made Kyra gasp, her eyes finding his as he suckled and nipped at her hard nipples. She groaned at the sight, growing wetter under his ministration. He was an amazing lover, kind and generous. He would be an amazing husband as well.

Rath put her legs up over her head and pressed her into the mattress as his cock slid deep inside of her. His pace was slow but intense. He relished every ripple of her inner walls around him and groaned out in pleasure. He looked into her eyes as his own burned with passion and love. One hand twined with hers and grasped tightly as he fucked her.

Kyra had many lovers in her life. No one took her breath away like Rath did. She gasped as he pressed her legs towards her chest, his heavy weight pressing her into the mattress as he sank into her body. She let out a cry of pleasure, her hips lifting to meet his own as his hand twined against her own.

The noises that he made as he fucked her were heavenly. His eyes piercing as she titled her head and kissed him. All of her passion went into that kiss, telling him of her love and admiration for him.

Rath eagerly returned the kiss. He felt himself completely enveloped in the moment. He would take no other woman to bed, nor would he ever want to. With Kyra, he could be more than just a second heir. For her, he would move the sky itself.

A fire burned in his loins, climbed up his back, and surrounded his mind in a haze of passion, sensation and warmth. "I love you," he groaned in her ear. It was the only thing that mattered in that one moment.

"I love you too, my sweet prince." Kyra panted as he loved her with all that he had.

She loved their private moments together. It brought them to a place that they experienced bliss. It made her fall deeper in love with him. She didn't care if the outside world didn't understand their relationship or disapproved. She was in love with the man of her dreams and that's all that mattered to her.

"Rath!" She cried out as the pleasure built too high and she burst.

Her body tensed under him and she moaned, cumming for him as he continued to saw in and out of her clenching entrance.

Rath threw his head back with a loud groan as he shot his seed into her. His hips jerked with each release until he finally rolled over onto his back and pulled Kyra on top of him. He kissed her passionately and held her body tightly against his. "One day..." he whispered. "One day we won't have to hide anymore."

He stroked her hair as they came down from the intensity of their lovemaking. He whispered her name and promises of his love and devotion to her in her ear. No matter what the usurpers claimed, Kyra was still a princess and she would one day be queen. She would be his just as he was hers.

The next morning, Kyra moved around the palace with a happy smile upon her face. Nothing that anyone could say or do could wipe it from her lips. She was in love, it was apparent, and the man that she loved was the kindest man in the world. She had been given a new gown that morning, one that was a lovely shade of lavender. She thanked Rath with a passionate kiss and her glowing smile to show him just how happy that she was.

She had nothing to do that day in particular. Her history was in the hands of her teacher, being read to see just how well she had done. She and Amina walked in the garden, arm in arm as they talked of nothing in particular. Amina teased her about the glow that she had on her face and Kyra actually blushed at the comment.

"It's nothing. I'm just happy." Kyra commented, glancing at her handmaiden and friend.

It was midday when Rath approached Kyra and Amina in the garden. There was a notable pride and happiness in the way he carried himself today, but he also seemed rather eager to say something. "Good day! Amina, I need to speak with Kyra privately for a moment. Why don't you go wait for us in the library." He had noticed the blooming affection between the handmaiden and the apprentice wizard and thought to perhaps do her a small favor giving the two an excuse to talk while Master Ithros worked on reviewing Kyra's manuscript.

As soon as the young woman left, Rath's smile disappeared. It wasn't a look of fear or anger, but there was something grave he wanted to bring up. "Come with me," he said to Kyra and brought the two of them to the shrine where Darius was sitting in prayer.

Kyra's own smile fell from her face as she saw the look on Rath's features. It wasn't a happy one and she wondered what had happened between the time she left their room that morning and now. She nodded and took his hand, allowing him to guide her to where Darius was sitting in prayer.

"My prince, what's wrong?" She longed to simply call him Rath, but she had to keep up appearances when they were around other members of his father's court.

"I offered to bring you into confidence with our spymaster. Recent news has rather forced my hand on that issue." He turned to Darius who was rising up. He turned, took Kyra's hands and kissed them respectfully.

"Long live the House of Katum. And long live... Princess Kyra." Darius's expression was unreadable, but his voice was level and impeccably polite. "I only recently figured out who you are, my lady. I must say, you and the prince have done well to keep the secret. We three are likely the only ones in the world who know."

Rath nodded when Kyra looked to him. "That's not all. Darius, tell her what you told me this morning."

Darius's eyes flicked around to be certain they were alone. "Your eldest brother lives. And I have learned where he is."

Kyra felt the blood drain from her face as Darius announced that he knew who she was. If it weren't for Rath holding her hands so tightly, she was sure that she would have fainted. Or perhaps she was the one holding his hands so tightly. It didn't really matter as Darius explained that he had figured things out on his own. Then, he dropped the biggest secret, one that nearly shattered her world.

"Seth died." She said, a mournful tone tinting her voice as she looked between the two men as if this were some kind of horrible joke. "I saw his body. He can't still be alive. No man can recover from the injuries that they gave him."

"My lady, my information is never wrong," Darius said as if declaring that water was wet. "The usurper had a special vengeance planned for him. He was healed of his wounds, but clapped in irons and forced to wear rags as well as a mask that hides everything but for one of his eyes. They call him Rat." The spymaster's face darkened somewhat before he continued.

"The false king Urides is a vain and arrogant man, but also insecure. He commands his court with bluster and extravagant gestures of his... supposed manliness. Your brother is regularly beaten and flogged in front of the courtiers to be made an example of. I believe he keeps your brother alive to feed his narcissism. Among the servants, there is a trio who know the truth of his identity and have stood beside him in secrecy. That is how I learned the truth. All three are now my eyes and ears inside the palace."

Rath picked up from there. "Darius has never once been wrong. This means that there is still another heir to the throne, who lives. Darius's spies tell us that Urides is an unpopular king. Should your house return, the people would take your side."
