Your Erotic 'mythos'

Its obvious I'm a fan of HP Lovecraft, and what he's best known for is his "Cthulhu Mythos" a group of around 12 (imagine everything that's ever been done with this theme over the years came from a dozen loosely connected stories) tales that introduced his great old ones, and texts of forbidden law that discussed them (The Necronomicon, the most famous). This has been added to for decades and to this day by other authors creating their own big bad, their secret location, and their bibles of blasphemy.

I was re-reading some HPL yesterday and began thinking in terms of my own erotic mythos. Characters and locations I put into stories, then referenced them in other stories for my own amusement, but also for readers to say "Hey, I remember that!" (cue South Parks Memberberries schtick) and I know other authors have done this as well, and thought this thread would be a chance to mention them.

Note: I'm not considering flat out sci fi world building, these are people, places, and things that exist in the real world most erotic stories are written in.

But to take it further, HPL used to encourage his inner circle of pen pals-Including Robert Howard, Robert Bloch, Clark Ashton Smith and others-to expand his mythos, using his characters, but adding their own, so the lore would continue to be built.

In reference to that, I thought it would be fun if at some point anyone hear wanted to use something someone else lists here. Perhaps in a closing note, mention "So and so used with the permission of" and give the author name as both a plug, and so no dedicated fan says "Hey, they...."

One of the stories in my "Flesh for Fantasy" series features Allie, who's the POV character in my standalone "The Code". Another story in the series implies that the narrator's girlfriend Mel is has been reading my sci-fi series "The Dome".

Porn stars I've done stories about, then referenced in other works

Molly Minx
Dana Darling
Morgan Cox
Nikki Nice
Sylvia Foxx

Porn studio: Stone Cold Productions founded by Malcolm Stone a former Porn Star, director, producer. The studio has several 'straight up' porn channels, but specializes in taboo material.
Appears in Mom will do anything, The Return of Molly Minx, and referenced in several e-books including an edition of "confessions" where Malcom tells the story of his obsession with his own mother.

S&F entertainment, run by Sylvan Sweeney AKA Sylvia Foxxx and her husband Matt. The two met on the set when they were young and still occasionally perform together and with others. Debuted in The Next Milf Porn Star. Founder of "Milftacular" and 'The Next Milf Porn Star" an actual first time amateur casting premise.

The Masked Milf: Run by two college age film students who look for older women hard up enough for money to shoot with and for them. This one is loosely based on the old "Milf Hunter" porn site.

Places

The Black Flame in Chicago: A strip club, fetich club, BDSM hot spot and with an occult angle as its owned by Abigail Lefay who resides on the top floor of what was formerly a small five story hotel burned in the great fire.

Sexcapades in Rhode Island An 'Amazing" style sex shop owned by Julie who is one of the two MC's in an e-book "Gloryhole Housewives" and there are gloryholes in the basement. The shop appears in GHHW and also My Friend's Hot Mom, Milf Porn and is referenced in at least two others.

The Devil's Playground in Boston: A strip club with a variety of back room action going on to suit every imaginable fetish. Debuted in By Demons Driven which I co-wrote with XelliebabeX

The Wolf's den: Super sleazy and sketchy strip club that has as much blow as blowing going on. Type of place the dancers are usually drunk, high, wasted, but up for anything that will get them more of the snake that owns them.

Siblings with Benefits
E-book The Devil in Mom
quickly mentioned-but not a setting- in several other stories.

Groups

The Circle: A BDSM group of wealthy dominants with chapters in cities across the country. Each group consists of 12 members, six men and six women. Lead by a master/mistress and all feature a "High Lady" and an enforcer in case someone breaks the rules, one of which is no sex between members unless time is granted by the head of the group.

Originally mentioned in Siblings with Benefits, the debut novel Tales of the Circle and three stories on lit. Mercedes Bends, sisters in sin, and the Breaking of Allison.

The Lefay Coven: Louisianna, but members live across the country. Featured in the Abigail series (book one was originally published here) and in Siblings with Benefits: Samhain

With one exception, all my stories on Literotica grow out of the first one I published, "Coffee with Blushes". All three of the named characters there have had their own stories apart from the others, and one of them has sprouted a subseries from a supporting character who knows the mom of the minor supporting character in CWB.

I did it on purpose. I think it came naturally to me because I used to be a fanatical reader of super-hero comics.

I like the idea of doing this, but haven't done it yet. I hope to give it a try.

Many of my incest stories have references to others. For example I have a story set in the distant past with a goddess of family, who is later referenced in 'the chalet and the guru' where a guy grabs some translated text from those days and add his own stuff to accidentally create an incest cult.
This cult is then referred in a couple of later stories.

I have not done this on Lit... most of my settings are drawn from real life. San Diego and the environs around the division 3 college I attended have made it into my work, but that's mostly just me writing the places I know and have lived.

Now, outside of Lit, Imp and I created a world with a sort of passive empathical magic in the "Artifactual" series. The series isn't set in a particular place so much, but there is definitely an urban fantasy type of mythos to that world. We spent time making sure our "magic" was consistent and seemed to follow certain rules. And the stories all feature the same protagonist couple.

In my solo works, I had a whole world of do and don'ts already in my head for "Real Vampires Don't Surf" including what types of magical creatures exist and who some of them were. Real historical figures are used and some real organizations, although they've been played with a bit. I wanted to do more with the ideas of orders of Knighthood. but I ended up backing off a bit because, when I first started writing the novel, the world was still all excited about the DaVinci Code and the Knights Templer seemed to be referenced in everything. But magic and the supernatural definitely have rules they must follow in that book and sometimes the characters are completely unaware of what the rules are.

My few published stories have all taken place in the New York metropolitan area, and I’ve tried hard not to cross-pollinate too much. I introduced lots of characters in my Valentine’s Day entry, so I may do another standalone story about one or more of them using the same references as the original, but I like each of my stories existing in their own little version of New York.

In my own stories I prefer creating new situations over reusing old ones. Despite that, "the guy who's good in bed," could probably be considered part of my erotic mythos. "The woman who's easily aroused," might be another.

Not really related, I guess, but years ago I beta-read the opening scene for one of @lovecraft68's works in progress. It took place in the famously haunted Bachelor's Grove Cemetery. I was in the area last spring, and my daughter and I dragged the whole family to explore the place. It's on an historic route of the Midlothian Turnpike. I really like that as place names go.

People: my husband and I have a series we've been writing since we got together of individual stories for seven different characters (as in they each have their own independent story series) who eventually all come together to save the world.

One of the seven is a villain at times and "created" three of the other characters. One unintentionally, two very intentionally.

We've never shown these stories to anyone, they're just for us to play with, lol.

Places: Just one house of horrors that spans a baker's dozen 750 word stories.

Things: I often reference a specific necklace of mine. It's a leather rope attached to triple brass chains on either side and a painted enamel flower with a butterfly pendant that's attached to the chains. I also reference food across many stories.

Little notes: Nearly all of my stories have some element of a horror movie hidden (and not so hidden) within them. Could be a character name, reference to a monster or a place, or even very blatantly referencing a specific movie by name. Off the top of my head, I actually can't think of one that doesn't have some nod that ties back to some horror element.

Otherwise, I'd say the only connective mythos my stories share is a desperate need for the MC's to see a therapist.

Thinking again, I’m realizing that I’ve now referenced a holiday in Turks and Caicos in two different stories. Might be something there.

When I first started writing I attempted to create an overlapping 'universe' where my characters would cross over but botched it terribly. Since then I haven't tried anything like that.

Damn, I totally forgot I sent you that. That's part of the above-mentioned Abigail series, and yes Bachelor's Grove and surrounding area are well worth exploring. I went there when I traveled to Chicago for work and talked one of the people at our sister company to take me there. Within five minutes I knew at some pointy I had to honor it in a story.

Another morbid and fascinating site-although it doesn't actually exist anymore is the infamous HH Holmes Murder Castle

Might have to make a side trip there. It's pretty 'downtown' from where we usually find ourselves.
