Day 9: A song that you can’t help but dance to

kung fu fighting

Day 10: A song that you can sing really well
Every song, I’m awful… Carrie Underwood: Heartbeat

Day 11: A song that you resonate most with right now
Shinedown, Monsters

Day 12: A song that reminds you of a crush you once had
Danger Danger, One Step From Paradise

Well done! I'm a bit more shy. Especially after trying to sing it again and realizing that my voice has aged like Siouxie's. Have you seen any of her recent performances? Not good :-(
I haven’t but I was very excited when she came outta retirement for a few shows. I’m very measured in my expectations, age comes for us all whether we like it or not. I did see Garbage last year and Shirley’s cover of Cities in Dust was fantastic but that doesn’t quite count.

Day 12: A song that reminds you of a crush you once had

I’ll make it my current crush, my wife. We’ve been together for many years and music brought us together. I made her so many CDs (remember those?), she still has them all.

We saw so many bands (esp in those first few years… we still go out every couple of months) and we listened to so much music. Punk, hardcore, Indie, Ska, Skinhead Reggae…

This one feels about right. The Duke Spirit was our first date. I felt her bumping into me.

Day 12: A song that reminds you of a crush you once had

I went and saw the amazing, adorable, powerful, Olive Klug on Saturday. Small venue, as in it sat about 30, but The Artichoke has great acoustics, as it is a music store/school/co-op. It is a very Portland place. If you get a chance, see them. They are a fantastic singer/songwriter with solid song writing skills and a beautiful upper range, a la Joni Mitchel, who Olive embraces as her main influence. Great show.

One of their early songs was "Not Forever After," which they wrote about the night they fully accepted they were a gay woman while at a house party. And yes, it was singular to them, but also pretty universal, in the motions. Because I remember running into a crush at a party, and, after a drink or three, admitting it, to find out she had a crush on me as well. And we had a sweet, awkward, wonderful night, and were both a really shy about it in the morning. It meant something, but we weren't sure what it was yet. But then, for some really stupid reasons -- that were legitimate, but stupid-- that was the only night. We ran into each other again, 20 years later at a reunion, and talked about it, and everything else. And I was married, even if my marriage was horrible --that meant something too-- so we didn't act on what we both obviously felt. Like Olive, "We didn't kiss/We just reminisced."

As for this crush, and several others far more recent:

It's not forever
It's just the way I tend to think of you and smile
It's not forever
It's just the way you cross my mind once in a while

I am 56, and that part never changes...

"Not Forever After," Olive Klug

Day 13: A song that you can listen to over and over again

As I was listening to Auroras new album in the bath, a slow jam came on and I was just vibing. After the first verse, the mix changed and I "noticed" it. No longer listening subconsciously my ears perked up. Then the bridge happened. Her vocal trill. In just a few seconds I went from whoa to oh my god to holy fucking shit. I was entranced. I practically shot out of the bath and rewound the song, just to hear it again.

And again.

And again.

I can't stop.

Help.

I don't have the words to describe the raw emotions she inflicts on me. I didn't even realize I was crying.

Day 13: A song that you can listen to over and over again

I'm not sure why, but this song generally gets repeated when it comes on of late. Several times. I may be in a dark place right now, heh. But don't read too much into it...

"And I don't wanna talk about the drama, I'm trauma -- ti-i-i-i-ized
They're tellin' me I'm fine, but we both know that's a fuckin' -- lie-ie-ie-ie
I'm losin' my mind, but I don't wanna talk about it..."

"Voices in My Head," Falling in Reverse

Annie Lennox: Don't let it bring you down (Neil Young cover)

Could pick from thousands for today's challenge. Recently re-discovered this and been playing it over and over in the car for some reason....

Was going to post a Bowie as usual but this song is a very frequent play, and when it comes on I will play it at least twice. It's got it all... it's a banger, a rager, a dancer, and just flat out great

This cover is great. Slowed down, darker, Florence, perfection.

Addicted to Love - Florence + The Machine

Unavailable in Ye Olde World, but thankfully I too am a Florence fangirl so I know this one well
