Day 18: A song from the 60s

In the movie challenge thread I recently mentioned my favorite Bond movie, In Her Majesty's Secret Service, so why not mention the soundtrack too! The first Bond theme to make use of Moog synthesizers that would become oh-so-popular later on, in the 70s.

The Moog's effortlessly overshadowed by Louis' trumpet though, of course

Day 16 - Song released this year
I need time and more songs to know if I like new Linkin Park but given my musical tastes I thought this was appropriate for today.
Your post the other day kicked off a Linkin Park dive. I was so confused when this popped up on the most popular list 🀣

Day 18: A song from the 60s.
the 60s are easily my favorite music decade. Bands pushing the envelope, exploring, experimenting.

I love early metal - proto metal. Proto punk. Just the craziest musical decade.

It’s the decade the took us from really tame rock (think Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge) to the fuckin stooges, sir lord Baltimore, MC5, Sabbath. From bands w matching suits to people being on the moon at the end of the decade. Vietnam, MLK and race riots tearing the country apart.

Somewhere in the middle of that was the Del-Vetts with this early hard rocking psychedelic number from 1966.

Day 18: a song from the 60s
The 1960s are enough before my time that I don't know many songs outside the big hits. I decided that if I was going to dig for a song why not start in a rabbit hole. So I present to you a song from the 60's 😁
Most people know the name Mozart and some might know of his boy genius, general smartassery, and of his dying penniless notoriety.

In 1764 his father was ill after chasing his son through London's streets and no one was allowed to disturb him with music. Bored, 10 year old Wolfgang wrote his first symphony in his head while his (by most accounts equally talented but far less known) sister Maria transcribed it.

As with most historical figures, Mozart's life is a story that seems like fiction. Definitely someone I'd choose to meet if aliens have time machines!

Day 19: A song from the '70s

So many awesome songs from this decade, it's hard to choose!
But here's one of my favourites with its instantly recognisable funk bass riff.
Born from a collaboration between Stevie Wonder and Jeff Beck, Wonder released his version in October 1972 to headline the Talking Book album. Beck's version was included on the Beck, Bogert and Appice album released the following year in March 1973.
I prefer Wonder's version with its slightly more syncopated bassline. Beck's of course, contains some legendary signature guitar work.
But what could be better than both! This version live for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary. Genius.

"Jeff, do your thing, son".
