Day 7 - A song you would dedicate to someone no longer with us.

Dance of the sugarplum fairy

My grandfather was a towering figure to me. A university professor and dean for decades, artistic, confident, disciplined, worldly, intelligent. I was quite young when my grandparents took me to see the Nutcracker performed by the National Ballet of Canada. I was supposed to be awed by the music and movement, touched by the precision and skill and dedication of the dancers. But I remember the way the sound seemed directed at me rather than bouncing around the room. I remember the way lights shifted across props and I tracked the paper snowflakes as they swirled above the dancer's movements. So I dedicate this song to my grandfather, he wanted me to be part of his world and instead I learned to see my own.

For Jerry who left us too early. RIP, brother…

On another note, this song came out in 1965 and featured a 15 year old Suzi Quatro on guitar…

A high school teacher who became a mentor and later a friend who filled a void for a father I never knew.

8. The song you most look forward to hearing when this time of year rolls around

This song isn't going to be what I was thinking when I wrote the prompt but since then, I happened to hear this song and it reminded me how much I love it, which I cant even explain why.
