Okay, all three of you guys, but this is an unusual year. For some reason, we have had no effective moderator since Feb. so we are making do with what we have. Read the rules and, if you want to, download the unofficial scoresheet that is in the Author's Hangout to your hard disk to keep track of your score. If possible, you will be issued an official scoresheet before the end of the year, and you can transfer the data to that. Not being an official mod., I can do no more than that.

You might also want to read the other thread about the contest to see what has been happening.

Good Luck. :)

Is it too late?

Is the cut off date for entry still in October? If so, then please count me into this.

The cutoff date is Oct. 31, so you are both in time. For details on the rules, read the first post on this thread, and for more info, look over the rest of this thread and the other on the contest.

Welcome, and good luck. :)

Scorecard

Boxlicker,

Any ideas about the scorecard stuff? I saw your link in the Authors section as well as Lauren's on here. But it is not allowing me to create a new thread in this section of the forum. I have my private messaging enabled and I am able to create new threads in other forums.

Thanks,
Tara

I have posted an unofficial scorecard in Authors' Hangout, and you can copy it to your hard disk and make entries in it to reflect stories and poems you have posted. If and when there is an active moderator, you and all the other new contestants will be issued official scoresheets, and you can copy to them.

There is no guarantee you will ever be issued an oficial scorecard. If not, the thing to do would be to post your unofficial scorecards to a thread on the Authors' Hangout, and I and other volunteers can inspect them to determine the 15 winners. That's assuming the management of Literotica accepts our findings.

Only moderators and the management of Lit. can start threads in the Survivors' Contest forum, and the moderators effectively abandoned the site six months or more ago. The contest is still going on, but there is no guarantee of anything.

Even so, you have nothing to lose by doing as I have suggested.

I suggest people post their scorecards in this thread after the October cut-off date and edit in as necessary until they're issued an official scorecard.

That might be a good idea, since people will be able to edit their scoresheets when they post a new story or poem. It might even be a good idea for those who have an official score sheet, such as you and I, to copy them here so everybody can see more easily how the contest is going. :D

Anyone who has registered up to this point who actually have submissions listed on their profile now has a score card thread. My time is incredibly limited so I am not creating threads for entrants who have nothing to put on a card until they actually have stories posted.

Then why don't we just roll with my idea, everyone posts in a scorecard thread with the blank scorecard at the top, and it can all be split up at the end of the year. Individual posts can be linked to, so a scoreboard can be made just as easily. No need for moderator time for new scorecharts, and you won't have to worry over things.

Plus the mere act of going to the thread shows how the contest is going, as Boxlicker said. :)

I'm only scorekeeping on my thread. >_> I understand why other people want them.

And it wouldn't be hard to "tabulate" at all. In fact, I think it would be much less of a pain in the ass (at least if I were moderating... I'm just thinking of what I had to do to make the non-official scorechart, which involved opening up many threads instead of just opening one). Here's how I see it:

Top post is the moderator with the rules and then the list-to-be. Any posts that are not scorecharts are deleted by said mod, which shouldn't be most than spambots if people aren't stupid. See the little number in the top right hand corner? Click it and you get the link to an individual post. Better yet, all you have to do is right click and copy URL in many browsers. These get pasted into the contestant list. List can be rearranged say, monthly, to make the scorechart.

To enter the contest, you post your scorechart in the scorechart thread.

Any other discussion can be put in another thread. So there's an off-topic contest discussion thread, and then the immunity thread. Suddenly it's a three thread contest that doesn't need a board of its own or a moderator besides someone who's volunteered to keep track of the contestants and update the scorechart and immunities... which as we have demonstrated, between Boxlicker doing immunities and me occasionally doing the scorechart, is pretty self-handling.

Okay, so my PM is on and I still haven't gotten any confirmation that I've signed up for Survivor. Any suggestions? Just start posting my stories? Thanx

I see your point, however the biggest problem (and the reason it was changed) is that when you get a large number of entrants, it gets more difficult to keep up with everything in one large thread. It's much easier on the participants to have their own threads. They are not difficult to create as long as the moderator in question had time. You really need two at least semi-active people doing the moderating so you have a second person to pick up the slack if the other gets busy. It started out that way with me and Lauren and then she got busy with life and I ended up having to do it all which was fine until this year's contest. I requested that another mod be assigned back toward the early part of the year, but for whatever reason, my request was not granted. When I first started modding the contest, I was a stay at home mom. I went from that to working part time to working full time. Plus I now have older children who have loads of extra-curricular activities, so my time now is limited.

I do appreciate all of the help both you and Box have done to try and keep things running. I will see who has submissions and still doesn't have a scorecard and get one posted so they can get their stuff up by the deadline.
