I have used an editor on one story.

I thanked Vixen publicly, in the posted story. I also sent her an email to thank her. Her assistance was very much appreciated.

Credit is due the author for coming up with a story, credit is due an editor for helping make the story better.

You should send a PM to Laurel listing the VEs concerned, and the date you tried to contact them. If enough authors do this, then the sheer nuisance value will make them install a periodic checking system like the one on Storiesonline, which asks editors to confirm availability monthly. If you don't reply for two consecutive months the third non-reply takes you off the list.
