Advice for a developing Dom

Himself keeps what he jokingly calls his Master's Handbook... what it really is is a list of links for Dom/mes that he finds interesting and links of ideas that he wants to try... If I find something interesting that I think he might like I send it to him... however I never mention it again... If he is interested, it will turn up in our play sooner or later.

I may start doing that myself because I sometimes have a bit of difficulty in remembering what info came from what site.

You've got me thinking now ! I'd like that idea as a task for a sub. I'd tell them to look for a nice book or folder which I could call my "handbook" and would ask them to organise it in such a way that I could easily browse for information. Eg, a section on punishments, a section on poetry and stories, copies of the contracts etc.

Also, I wouldn't try to go from A to K. Celebrate the fact that your on the same road and enjoy the journey. After a scene it's important to give her a lot of love and attention. When she's ready, get her a chance to give feedback. Don't see it as a challenge to your dominance, but rather a chance to make your next time more mutually fulfilling.

That is a GREAT idea for My Honey and I. He wants to make absolutely sure that he doesn't cross my limatations. Of which I have no idea what they are. And I want to be able to tell him what I want without fear of him thinking I'm out of line or into stuff he might find distasteful. I think I will get us special boxes for this tomorrow. This is going to be wonderful!!

I have sometimes given my sub the task of make up a list, or writing a summary for me to review with her.

Some of the most enlightening topics have been:
- Prepare a list with two columns, punishments you secretly enjoy, and actual punishments.
- Write a re-cap of our play session.

This is the type of thread I have been waiting to see, now who will go to the how to section and write a thread on how to be a dom and one on how to be a sub? it needs to be done by someone that has been doing it for years on either side of the equation. I will bow to the more knowledgable........hypothetically not realistically. I think my brain would implode if I had to bow to someone. Seriously this is the first thread I have read that has had fully intelligent information on dom/sub behaviour.

Sadly my handbook over time fell apart and was finally given a proper funeral with full rites observed and I have not had time to rewrite one. (Even if I did who would want to read a three page handook?)

Who needs a handbook? Just use what information can be gleaned from the internet (like this forum), other people and your own experience. You don't have to conform to someone else's style when you can develop your own.

Having said that, you could pick up lots of helpful tips from a book or two. I'm no anti-intellectual.
