and Happy Holidays to you as well, Tumblr. Mother Fuckers!

everyone @ tumblr right now...

Tumblr may change their tune when they become tumbleweeds.

Then again they're now owned by some media giant who doesn't need it to be profitable. The repeal of Net Neutrality has a hand in this. Unfortunately I expect this to be a trend. I expect twitter to pull this stunt shortly.

I'm afraid we will see more and more, I wonder if Lit will get hit with stricter guidelines? I can already see some change from 10 years ago, I wonder what it will be like in another 10?

Yup - I remember the "Great Lit Purge of '05":mad::mad::mad:

This was about all I could post here in the BDSM world....

My guess is that another site will step up relatively quickly to lure Tumblr "refugees". I hope the compromise isn't less security at the replacement venue, and a less diligent effort to prevent malicious software from infecting their content.

I’ve seen blog entries from a few of the NSFW crowd mention8ng a variety of venues and I don’t recognize any of the sites. That doesn’t mean anything, of course, but I have no doubt that there will be a period of intense competition to attract the content creators that created the bulk of Tumblr’s adult traffic. Will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. I do know that one immutable law will hold: nature abhors a porn vacuum.

thought i'd check out tumblr porn. seems like a sunday thing to do

lots of stuff already flagged.

:(

I honestly think they are basically hanging themselves with this decision.
I mean, what is Tumblr even good for, besides porn? In all other areas it has competition that does things WAAAY better.

I'll probably get in trouble for saying this...but; There were real problems with the virtually unregulated images policy too. As I recall, one of the main reasons for the move was because of known and identifiable child porn exploitation. I doubt anyone here on Shank's Threads would support that. But I think it also can go a little deeper than obvious child abuse (again, not here). I know that in my own explorations on Tumblr I would run across images of mostly "young females" who may have been over 21 or not, but who looked as if they were posing nude under duress or coercion...the look in their eyes were not those of someone who is enjoying the moment. It's hard for me to support that.

So, as in most instances of "rules"; It's the ass-holes and pervs who screw things up for everyone. I've noticed some of this already leaking over here at Lit in what appears to be underage content. I suppose Tumblr had some form of a "report this image"...I never noticed it though. It would have been a good idea if they would have rolled out a better community monitoring try first. I suggest we all report images in posts on Lit that appear to violate the rules to keep the pervs from screwing up Lit too.

This is a valid concern. Thanks for adding it to the conversation.

I agree. And while I note that you stated in another place that you never found a "community" element on Tumblr, I actually did, and within that community, there was an active and determined effort to flag and report and shut down all pedo blogs and content that was illegal. To make sure that our own content was appropriately marked NSFW and that none of our followers were minors (to the best of our abilities). To block any spam bots, report them and to block other illegal uses of the platform. In the last 18 months of my active use of the platform, I found the tumblr staff to be completely unresponsive to these efforts, they did not make it easier to report such things and they did not understand their responsibility to report such things to law enforcement. There was no way for users to directly report from the platform pedo blogs or suspected underage/ coerced blogs.

Soooo... I think there is something else going on here. Just my opinion.
And yes... there are some new laws in effect that make the jeopardy of having any bad actors on the site much more serious for the wesbite hoster, and those are surely going to redound to Lit folks as well.

I agree completely that we should not permit any under age or suspected underage content here either and we should report it aggressively to the mods.

Another issue (not just on Tumblr) is that 99.9% of the content was pirated. Maybe some people are happy to have their pics shared for the sake of exhibitionism, but most of the stuff that turns us on was created by people who are doing it to put bread on the table. Some of those Tumblr communities were very generous within themselves, but not so generous to the people who actually make the porn they're sharing.

I don't claim to be blameless on this. If you audited my hard drive you'd find lots of stuff that I've right-click-save'd without ever knowing where it originally came from. But I do try to kick some money in the direction of creators, and I'd encourage others to do the same, ESPECIALLY if you're concerned about exploitation of models/actresses.

I'm bad with faces, I can't tell the difference between a model who's simulating distress and one who's genuinely having a bad time (or indeed between simulated and actual enjoyment). But I'm pretty sure that when nobody's paying for their porn, then porn is going to be made by the kind of people who don't pay their models, and that's definitely going to be exploitative.

Thanks Shank, I was almost afraid to come see how bad it was  And Cas, that was very informative about their lack of even trying...it does make it appear they have other motives. Bramlethorn , good point. One of the reasons I never put my images (travel, PNW, etc) was based on my understanding of "trying" to decipher Tumblr's consent form...seemed to me I was virtually signing all rights over to them  Any who, I'm sorry for those who have lost community in all this...hopefully the contacts can be held and find a new place to gather ~

On Tumblr just now my avatar went away. It was just a face.

This is my place now.

Modern Tumblr Erotica

Janet slid one lingering finger down her half-opened blouse, deliberating revealing her female presenting nipples. Deryk groaned, “I’m going to have to review those!”

“Flag me Deryk! Flag me as hard as you can!” cried Janet, as he plunged his real-life human genitals into her sensitive content until his post was no longer visible.

“Well that’s better and more positive” they both gasped, and they spoke transparently and freely about their personal journeys in line with the Community Guidelines until they fell asleep in each others pixelated arms.
