What bullshit

It would have been great had it been NORMAL....fucking queers is not my cup of tea.... besides, they are not allowed in the army!

I fully expected to piss some people off when I wrote it. I take it as a complement to my writing, though I do wish I knew who posted it.

You do know who wrote it. His name is T. Roll. Also known as S.M. Allminded.

I've been wondering about this for the past few years. The Internet seems to have spawned a new breed of self-loathing, unimaginative social warthogs who revel in their ability to be anonymous. They attack those things of which they are jealous in the misguided belief that perhaps they might make some sort of impact, or even a difference.

The world is full of simpletons who cling to the shadows of greatness, forever trailing in the wake of their own false impressions and failed ideologies. These are the people who obsessively follow the lives of celebrities while eating microwave macaroni & cheese, who watch Entertainment Tonight and yell at the screen when their favorite celebrities break up.

While we, the authors of Literotica, may not, and probably never will be, celebrities, even we show them something of what they do not possess: creativity, and a bravery to reveal it, for better or worse. We may stumble and fall, or we may soar and succeed; the outcomes of our actions are directed by our desires and passions.

For those pathetic souls who refuse to crawl out of the bleakness of their own fear and ideas of 'what could be,' I have only this to say: Accept your life, and your fate as you have made it.

Or build a new bed and lie in it. Attacking me serves nothing but to prove to the world how narrow and selfish is your mind. But no one is without hope of redemption.

Even you, Mr. or Mrs. T. Roll and S.M. Allminded, yet have a chance.

But I seriously doubt it.

You are being a bit unfair. What real bravery is it to post dirty stories under noms de guerre that hide our identities as effectively as A Nonny Mouse.

People hold strong beliefs and opinions - whether blinkered or not - and it is wrong to insult them about their lifestyle or educational achievements.

Although not a primary objective, this site has taken a load of neophytes and turned us into half-decent creative writers. Less advertised is the effect Lit has had on getting people to read - or even learn to read.

On any comment you should make a judgement. Has this person struggled to put thoughts down in writing, really is there something behind what is poorly expressed.

In the real world there are also nasty people. I keep my purse tightly under control when I ride the subway. I don't claim that some people just wanna be nasty - but they don't all slam frozen macaroni and cheese in the microblaster while shouting at Oprah.

As the guy said it, 'Publish and be damned'.

Love your stories.

Elle;

Perhaps you are right. I may have fallen back a bit on my own perceptions of stereotypes and been a bit harsh. As my old editor at the student newspaper I used to run once told me, 'hasty generalizations can get you into trouble.'

For that I apologize.

However, I do stand by my assertion that there is a class of people out there who troll the Internet looking for venues within which to vent their frustrations, whatever they may be. I have encountered it again and again on numerous bulletin boards and open chat rooms.

One need only look to the General Board on this very site to know what I am talking about.

But you made a very valid point when you said that it is wrong to insult other people when I essentially know nothing of them (not your words, but I believe I am accurate in paraphrasing your intent). That is very much true. Many of us here have fallen into the convenience of lumping those who insult and attack us into a certain category.

I stand suitably chastized.

For the record, while I am not going to reveal my exact identity publicly . . . I do, from time to time, eat microwave mac & cheese and sometimes watch ET. ;)

By the way, thanks.

You're right that there are a genre of flamers on the Net who seek to nullify everything - but here it is something a tad different. We have not - or cannot -got across the point that this is fiction. A lot of the hurtful PC's are attacking the premise of the story - not the writing, plotting and readabilty.

Does liking microwave chinese and watching reruns of desperate housewives banish me to your neanderthals?

Okay, okay! I'm sorry! LOL

Although, if you think Desperate Housewives is a documentary, then yes.

Neophyte Writer

I'm kind of glad I came across this posting. I posted my first story up here several days ago and was inundated with responses. Most were positive and I was pleased to read them, but there were the occasional negative ones that really weren't all that constructive, or very nice in spirit either.

I did delete a couple of public comments, not because they were negative per se, but more because I felt they were no longer applicable. They mentioned that I ought to insert dividers in the story to signify the end of a scene and the beginning of a new one. I had done so in the original submission with extra line breaks, but they didn't translate over properly onto the site, so I resubmitted using asteriks instead. I hope I didn't commit a faux pas by deleting the comments whose suggestions I had implemented after the fact.

The main comment I wasn't sure about, and erred on the side of caution by just leaving it up, had to do with my depiction of the treatment of Asian women in erotica. It was, of course, an anonymous post, so while I wanted to respond and say, "Well, I ought to know how Asian women are treated considering I AM one." I couldn't.

It was mostly funny to me, being lectured about my own race and sex. By leaving it up, I got two subsequent comments... not necessarily negative ones... about the whole "Asian" thing. I don't know that I want to start a whole racial argument about the objectification of Asian women, but it seems like I might have accidentally done that. Whoops!

Yeah, I know. It'd be nice if Nicole Sheridan and Terri Hatcher really were sluts . . .

What? No, of course I've never seen an episode!

no me neither.. ;)

I wanna know how you entice Anonymous out of hiding. I've got two stories up so far and they've only got three comments each. All signed.
I'm hoping to drag Mr and Ms A. Nony Mouse out of hiding with one of the two I have pending (someone has sex with a 'priest' in a church, that should rile somebody!)

Negative Comments

Some comments are worth listening to, and maybe they are just readers who don't subscribe to Lit.

I've had a few negative comments, one I deleted at the advise of another writer due to it's language.

Another commented on my punctuation and inspired me to do some reading on punctuation and enlist the aid of an editor.

I just submitted the edited story and an waiting for feedback.....(fingers crossed)

New to this forum

I have been reading stories here for some time and went elsewhere for several months because I began to get flameing email for my positive comments regarding various stories. OK, truth is I verbablly poked in the eye a few of the negative commentors (is that a word), anyway, what is news to me is an author can delete comments at will. Thats refreshing to know. I am not an author yet but have completed a story and am working on the sequel plus 5 or 6 other story lines. None are suitable for this website (underage) so I do feel for those of you who are doing a thankless job and have to put up with idiots. I think constructive critism (not harping) about someone's writing ability is fine provided legitimate guidance is offered as well. However, complaints about subject matter or story line are way out of line. All the stories (at least most) are accurately categorized and if potential readers are turned off by certain types of stories, then don't browse the category. Not only that but its a rare story which doesn't give away enough in the first few paragraphs for a decerning reader to make a decision to read or not.

I believe people who go to the trouble of reading a story they know they won't like just to bitch about it later have a more sinister agenda in mind. That being to discourage all writers of erotica and thereby bring about the demise of excellent websites such as this one. HOw's that for a conspircy theory. I agree anyone who comments good or bad should have the guts to not do it anonymously. Hint, check my profile for email address.

So, thats my little rant for the day. A big thank you to all authors for making the effort. Oh yea, Happy Newyear

Getting negative comments on my writing is new to me. My first story in Loving Wives is getting some great feedback... as well as getting slammed by trolls. I don't think I'll take down any public comments anyone puts up about any of my work on this site, but I really wish they'd leave a name. Not so I can attack them, but just so I can respond directly to them. Some are worthy of a response, there's just nowhere to send it.

Private E-Mails

I received a not so nice comment on one of my stories. I was so confused by the message that I actually wrote the person back, and never received a reply. I mean it was not mean, just very vague.

"one of the many, 'vote one and move on' stories.
Shame really, it started out so well."

I was not trying to argue with her I just wanted to know why she felt that way. The whole series had lead up to that final chapter. It was no surprise that it was going to involve multiple partners. I think her never responding upset me more than any comment could. I have left it up, it was her opinion and I valued it, although I disagreed with it.

My next question, those private e-mails that a writer gets. Some of them are so disgusting that I actually will blush before I delete them, NEVER to reply. I really think that is worse than 'trolling' my works of fiction.

confused

it's odd..i can sign my handle to a story..but noone can sign in to post comments.
now..knowing i turned on public comments, critique away. I understand erotica is like pornography..it's different to each individual depending on what they see, like, tastes..etc

but some of these..and to go 'incognito'...not sure what shows the worst taste LOL

Excuse me, but that’s nonsense. Frankly, if a comment is directed at the protagonist or at the quality of the text, it’s equally valid. If the “writer” of this story doesn’t want comments, he/she can delete the uncomplimentary ones or turn off the comments completely.

>>>>>>>

this one was good..i turned on comments for a reason ...to see what they had to say ....didn't critique structure, or the writing..just that I didn't know erotica then I was griping about comments....LOL I WANTED comments...

Shit on your mother s grave...you stupid idiot wimp

THAT one was really great. don't tell me what you hated...defecate on my mother's grave she isn't in yet and talk like stepfather...must be a college education with the big words

I guess I'm complaining that, I don't understand if someone writes a story they have to put their handle/pen name/name/etc...but those that leave comments without signing in, that seems just very childish and cowardly. I'd love to hear 'constructive' criticisms, but nooooo let's poop on mommy' s tombstone

if i knew what i was doing i'd be writing romance novels or something and peddling that 'literature' for some cash

those that left poor scores, and then told me what i was doing wrong with the story, thank you very much. THOSE help:eek:)

I wish those that low voted would comment, so I knew what they didn't like. The only comments I've received have been positive ones. While that's very flattering, I'd rather know what I was doing wrong to garner the poor votes.
